I was working on my first project that needed a big hook and bought a bamboo hook but it kept hooking. I tried to file it smooth but the mistakes continued so I ordered this crochet hook after seeing it recommended by "Mikey" the guy who runs the Crochet Crowd on Facebook. The difference between this aluminum hook and bamboo hook is like night and day. I like the way it interacts with the yarn, it's very smooth of course. Bamboo, even when unhooked, had a "pull" because the smoothness factor just isn't on the same level as aluminum. The comfortable grip of this Boye crochet hook is very good, especially when you have been crocheting for a long time. My smaller hook set ends in size J. I like this Boye hook so much that I'm considering completing my set by filling in the gaps with more Boye hooks. I will definitely buy this hook again!
