Great vacuum that could be improved

Overall this is a good vacuum that works as intended. Positive: The suction power is very good. It has enough power for everything I throw at it, from fine dust to construction debris and liquids. It's easy to empty the bin and change or clean the filter after you're done vacuuming. Two clamps release the engine head from the collector, and a central handle makes it easy to lift the engine and access the filter. The device is stable and does not tip over easily because the wheels are far apart and the center of gravity is low. You won't knock it over without trying hard enough. And because the hose has a clamp that attaches it to the motor head, the hose works great as a 'leash' to pull the vacuum across the floor. Disadvantages The design of this vacuum cleaner with suction at the motor head does not lend itself to the use of a filter bag. Whatever you suck gets into the filter unless you use a Filter Pal over the filter as a pre-filter. If you skip the Filter Pal, be prepared for the filter to clog up fairly quickly when vacuuming fine particles like drywall dust or concrete dust. If I had to do it again I would go for a vacuum with an inlet opening on the canister where a vacuum bag could be used. This makes cleaning easier and makes it easier to handle fine dust such as chimney ash. That being said, the pre-cleaning pouch makes this easy enough and no big deal. The hose is crucial. First, it's too short, about 7 feet. The vacuum is always in your way when you use it. While this isn't unique to the WorkShop brand, they could have a competitive edge by at least offering a longer hose. But perhaps my biggest disappointment with the hose is the friction fit at the end where the jets connect. They ALWAYS fall apart. It doesn't seem to matter how hard you push them in, how hard you twist them, etc., they fall apart. It would be very easy to solve this problem with a twist lock or a clip of the same type that is on the end that attaches to the vacuum cleaner head. I'm strongly considering gluing the tubing onto the stick so it doesn't fall off again. This is incredibly frustrating. So this vacuum cleaner is as good or even better than the competition. There are shortcomings that they had to solve, but they are not violating the agreement. In general I like the vacuum.
