I was looking for a replacement for an aging peeler I had for 10-15 years. The steel blades showed their age and began to rust. I prefer vertical cleaners and I "think" they are less accident prone, at least for me. I've recently tried options from brands I like (like OXO) but was disappointed with their performance (weak and superficial cleaner). .After purchasing ceramic knives from Kyocera last year, I decided to try this cleaning knife and I'm glad I did. It has a nice strong rind, quite deep with a very firm feel. There is only one small improvement they could make and that is make the blade a bit longer as it feels a bit small but definitely suits every need.
