My cockatiel loves toys in general but is absolutely obsessed with this toy in particular. He plays with her, snuggles up to him, sings to him, sleeps next to him and tries to destroy him like it would hurt his mother. He still plays enthusiastically with his other toys. He's quite well behaved, but I took that guitar toy away for a week or two, concerned that the reflection might mess up his hormones and attitude. BAD. IDEA. That backfired. He almost completely stopped singing for me, for my husband, for his reflection. He stopped singing in the mornings and stopped singing for pleasure. He started biting (not just warning bites) and became very territorial towards his cage. He wasn't so keen on being petted by me. In fact, taking away that toy made him become more aggressive, not nicer. I still do not understand. But I will buy a replacement because my bird will be very unhappy if it ever goes away. Even though my bird loves this toy, I have to deduct a star for the quality and durability of this toy. I suggest once you have this toy, grab a pair of pliers and make sure all the connections are secure. Even then, my cockatiel was destroying chains and balls in two weeks. I ended up taking some sisal and some wooden beads and replacing the chain and plastic balls with them. But it's not the same because the rope doesn't go up and down and doesn't make that kind of chain noise. Broken links can pose a security risk. Also, the blue neck has become detached from the silver case over time, so I very carefully applied a minimal amount of glue and glued it back together. I wish I didn't have to do this for safety reasons, but my bird can't get to the glue. Since budgies are actually more energetic than cockatiels (budgies are known to intimidate cockatiels), this toy really can't be resisted. very good for any parrot. Very good design, very attractive to birds but not very well executed. I'll be buying a few extra ones so I can replace them once or twice a year. But I'll have to watch it closely when it's new to see if it becomes a safety hazard and eventually replace the chains with sisal.
