Awesome product. but not perfect

I moved into a house that lacked enough outlets in the kitchen, and I really needed some kind of light under the cabinets in the area I wanted to use to prepare food. These lights really solved the problem of illuminating a dark area that doesn't have outlets. At first I thought the motion sensor aspect would be annoying or unnecessary, but I've come to love it. These serve a dual function of illuminating a space when you need it and acting as a nightlight so I can see where I'm going if I need to get a glass of water in the middle of the night. Here's what I DON'T like: It really has to be quite dark for these to turn on. I was in the kitchen while it was storming outside, so naturally my house got pretty dark. The lights still didn't turn on until it was actually nighttime. In the photo, you can see the lights on. I had to wave my hands repeatedly for them to finally activate since it wasn't totally dark, whereas normally all you have to do is enter the room for them to turn on when it's pitch black. Also, the number of batteries these take is inconvenient in this day and age. I have two of these lights, which require 8 AAA batteries total. I'm worried the batteries are going to die soon, and I'll have to go buy another pack. Most of us just don't keep tons of batteries in the house anymore since most things can be recharged. I really wish these lights were rechargeable.Overall, I'm happy with this product because it solved my problem of having no light in a necessary part of my kitchen, and I find the motion sensor feature to be pretty awesome. However, the number of batteries this takes and finicky nature of the lights coming on only at certain times of day is a pain. Nonetheless, I plan to purchase one or two more of these to use inside closets where there is no overhead light. Pretty cool concept.

Pros
  • AUTOMATIC SENSOR: With passive infrared technology, it can be detected by the motion of a human in the dark. The OxyLED Motion Sensor Closet Lights is auto-on within 10 feet, auto-off after 15-18 seconds of no motion detected helps prolong battery life.
Cons
  • The adhesive may damage the surface it is applied to, leaving residue or discoloration
