This went on for 21 months before the cheap little plastic tab broke under the lock's pivot arm and left me locked in my truck's drawer. The key no longer moved the turning mechanism to the correct position to unlock it. And what's tricky, like most of us, I had a $600 Solid Fold Tonneau in the box and now I couldn't get in through the back door. After wringing out the tonneau cover for several hours, I was finally able to remove it and then rip open the inner plastic tailgate cover. I find the broken piece under the metal pressure washer shown in the picture. Now the key just turns the mechanism to the locked position. Until I decide what to do, or if there is another manufacturer solution as shown in the picture, I connected a white nylon cord to the swingarm and routed it through the inside of the tailgate through the bottom left drain hole. so I can pull to rotate the mechanism to the unlocked position. What a disappointment that they can't use higher quality parts to keep them from breaking.
