It looks like my "new " drive is "out of region " which means .

Hard drive is not new Got a "new" hard drive today. The drive didn't have the usual "blue" label, and since I was buying a new blue 500GB drive, I was beginning to wonder. There was a Black Drive label, but it didn't say Black. Then I looked at both dates on the label. I wrote on October 24, 2017. Hmmm, not old for a new hard drive. I then decided to check the warranty on this "new" drive. Interesting. It looks like my "new" drive is "out of region" meaning I'm checking the warranty in the US, but this drive was originally shipped and sold in different countries. It also has no warranty status. It's not that the warranty has expired, it's that this drive doesn't have warranty information because it's out of region as stated on the WD website. The last thing I checked was the wear on the gold pins where the SATA and power connectors connect to the drive. Guess what folks. Yes, there are actually signs of use. Oh, did I mention the disc was resealed in a stationary case and not the original it usually came in? So in the end. This disc is sold to us as NEW and this disc has been sold and used somewhere in the world. except the US before reselling to us AND they charge $40+ for a used drive. Definitely not boys. By the way, I own and operate a computer repair and business network services company in Rohnert Park, California. I know what I'm looking at when it comes to this disc. .disappointed to say the least.
