The Revain description specifically states: 2-year limited manufacturer's warranty. I received this CD today. Before installing this disc, I attempted to register it on WDC.COM for warranty purposes. The WD website states that this drive was an OEM product. Item was returned to Revain today. From WDC's FAQ: 1. Retail hard drives (Example: WD1200JBRTL) are sold in retail packaging and may include the following accessories: Quick Installation Guide Acronis Installer software (needs to be…

Below average stability (according to a very popular user testing website) Rating range (95th-5th percentile) for WD Blue 1TB is 57.4% on average (fastest mechanical drives - 100%). This is a relatively large range, indicating that the WD Blue 1TB is unstable under various real-world conditions. I've had good experiences with WD drives in the past and haven't had a single failure. However, I take good care of my equipment. This prompted me to purchase 2 of these drives; Both run with firmware…

I then decided to check the warranty on this "new" drive. Interesting. It looks like my "new" drive is "out of region" meaning I'm checking the warranty in the US…

**NOTE. My photos were taken a few hours after the ride had run for a while. When I first tested the drive it didn't work for hours! The first thing I would like to say is that this drive is advertised as a retail drive but is actually an OEM drive. This is not normally a problem, except that with a Western Digital (WD) OEM drive, the warranty now goes to the OEM and not WD. The OEM in this case is the seller (to me they are Hard Drive Geeks). The only physical difference on the disc is that…
