NETGEAR AC1900 replaced by ARRIS SVG2482AC for Comcast/Xfinity

NETGEAR AC1900 Reliability questionable after a week of use. Installation was easy, except it required a call to Comcast to activate. After over 30 minutes they switched to another support level and it took over an hour. All in all, it took over two hours to set up. reason for my rating. In the first week there were at least two disconnections to the Internet, which were fixed by disconnecting from the network for 20-30 seconds. However, on the 9th day, internet outages began for more than three and a half hours. Tried at least nine reboots (unplugging the power cord for 20-30 seconds, plugging the power cord directly into an outlet instead of an extension cord, rebooting the modem using the diagnostic tool on the Comcast website, checking hardware connections) because the Internet connection lasted no more than 10 - 20 minutes straight before death sign (all lights off except steady red). I have decided to return the NETGEAR AC1900 for a refund as it likely has a modem rather than an internet connection through Comcast and additional call time and hassle with Comcast and/or NETGEAR support. Decided to rent their ARRIS modem and router from Comcast as a temporary solution. Then I ordered an ARRIS SVG2482AC, installed it myself in less than an hour and now it's working as expected. Now we will monitor reliability (connecting and disconnecting from the Internet).

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Very expensive
