Review on Compressor Silencer Compressor Replacement Accessories by Richard Miller

Actually my compressor got louder

I have an HF 21Gal Black compressor, it's insanely loud so I bought it to try and drown out the air intake noise but it didn't work. My compressor came with a plastic filter canister (photo 2) and a filter with a thin foam insert - measured with a dB meter in the phone app at 6ft was 92-93dB (back and forth between the two). (again a jump between these two values). Took the paper filter out of this store bought muffler and put it in a standard plastic filter canister and measured 90dB (no bounce measurement) - I use this solution although it still doesn't sound great it's the best combination with these parts available. Photo 3: This element is disassembled, metal container, paper filter material with a rubber gasket around the perimeter. Final solution, HF plastic canister and paper filter are supplied with this "silencer". Admittedly, that slight noise cancellation at this high level was imperceptible to me, so it's probably a waste of money in the end as even my best combination of components still makes a very loud sound. Compressor - where most of the noise comes from the air intake. My recommendation, if you're just looking for the basic noise reduction that this 'muffler' should provide, is to simply use the upgraded air filter and insert it into the stock filter. .
