Description of πŸ› οΈ 40 Pieces 1/4-20 Hex Drive Threaded Wood Inserts for Wood Furniture Applications

1/4-20 threaded insert x 15mm length, 6mm allen wrench included, best 1/4"-20 threaded insert wood insert furniture screw in nut connector screws. Insert head βŒ€: 0.461" / 11.7mm, body βŒ€: 0.315" / 8mm, threads βŒ€: 0.410" / 10.4mm. Threaded inserts are easy to install, simply drill the right size hole and Install with hex key provided. In Softer wood, the outside threads cut easily into the wood, simply drill a Appropriately Sized Hole (8.5mm, 9mm, 9.5mm, 3/8" drill bit) for the body of the insert, then screw insert into the place. In very Harder wood such as white oak or maple, drill a hole size (3/8", 9.5mm, 10mm drill bit) that close to the outside threads diameter, then screw insert into the place. If the drilled hole is too small for the threads, screwing it in MAY split the wood or insert.

Works as intended Good for nut inserts

If trying to get into a thin board or pushing close to the surface, use a Forstner bit. Twist drills give you a cone shape towards the end and take up some space and shovels are pointy so I went with Forstner and it worked great. Was a little worried about putting them in hickory but both survived.

Great for disassembly and assembly

I bought these for some of the wooden tables I made for my daughters and nieces. They live in apartments and move house every few years. By screwing the legs to these inserts, you can set up and take down tables and pack them up for easy transport. With repeated use, the screws will wear down the wood holes over time and will not hold up well. It is great.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Easy to use! - Nuts

Awesome things. We are not carpenters but they were needed to replace the oak bar stool seats. We used our neighbor's drill with a 3/8" bit to ensure an accurate 90 degree angle to insert the threaded inserts. We used a drill and socket instead of the included Allen key to screw in each of the inserts. But an allen wrench works well if you don't have a drill. AWESOME and easy to use inserts. I highly recommend them!

Great buy fast delivery

This is a quality product at a great price. I was in dire need of a project from Live Edge Wood and Resign Dining Table. I found these threaded inserts to be better than screwing the legs straight into the table itself. I wanted to get it right the first time and having a kit for different length screws was great and worked well with pre-drilling the holes. I also smeared the holes with wood glue. So now I have permanent inserts and removable legs (just in case I ever want to move my table…

Not suitable for all 1/4 inch screws. Description is misleading

UPDATE: I had to buy zinc screws for this. galvanized and now I have to deal with rust from galvanized screws. I'm increasing a star from 3 to 4 because the product is good. I just want the description updated so people don't waste time and money. I'm sure these are good anchors, but they are NOT for 1/4" screws. They won't work with the 1/4"-20 zinc plated head screws I used. The merchandise says it's 1/4"-20 x 20mm, but the bag lists all metric sizes on a sticker. I ended up stripping one of…

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
