ABN Snap Ring Pliers 11 Piece Review

I've been looking for a heavy duty snap ring pliers set for a long time. When I received this set I was very impressed with the build quality and durability of these pliers (as well as the price). When a front wheel bearing needs to be replaced, these pliers make removing the snap ring a quick and easy job. Kudos to the little company that made these tongs!

Good set for low price. But I want to make sure I have very small sizes. I checked tip sizes with precision digital calipers. The size is good for large sizes. But the smallest size is 0.047 inch and should be 0.038 inch. The closest size should be 0.047", but I measured 0.055". If you don't care about the size of the lower prizes, that's fine with you. I will actually buy another set that has the small sizes I want.

When I encountered snap rings like some others, I used all sorts of tools to remove them. But it didn't work in my current project, so I had to find the right tool. I didn't pay much attention to this when ordering, so I was very pleasantly surprised when the set arrived in a nice bag. I then removed the offending retaining ring with pliers and it came off so quickly I realized I should have gotten a set like this years ago. I am very happy with this purchase.

If you're expecting the same quality and ease of use as more expensive circlip pliers sets, you'll be disappointed. While pliers with internal locking rings work great, pliers feel bulky on external "C-clips" and the like. I've also had to sharpen the tips of all the pliers I've used to date to remove the drill bits left over from manufacturing. These are good home kits but they just don't cut it for regular use in the maintenance department or workshop.

It's ok for a $20 set. I mean try going to your local auto parts store and finding a $20 snap ring pliers set that fits this size he won't happen and the cheap junk they sell is usually worse and sometimes useless . The pins are not aligned, you can always adjust them if necessary. They may not be perfect but I have no problem with my set, I don't use them often, if I did I would probably get a more expensive set but once I've used them they work just as well and everyone else.
