Aprilaire 501 Replacment Electronic Purifier Appliances Review

Aprilaire whole house filtration systems are great and it is good practice to change the filter every 6 months. Although this filter is a little pricey, it works very well and filters out much of the dust that is circulating through the home's forced ventilation system. Very easy to install. The packaging could have been better so no double box was needed.

Presented as filters #501 for the Aprrilaire 5000 air purifier. But the filters I received were #201. They are not as advertised and do not fully function properly in an Aprilair 5000 air purifier. I returned for a full refund but I am still disappointed with this misrepresentation and at the same time I do not have the correct replacement filter.

Two filters were rated correctly. I will say it. However, I opened the first box and the filter was taped to the box because there was black paint on the side of the filter. It has destroyed the side of the filter making it unusable as the side of the filter is stuck to the filter block. The cord that holds all the folds together is also torn. The filter material seemed very thin compared to what I got. No repurchase.

Purchased from "Sold by Revain", filter looks good, installs easily. Not difficult if you take your time and install it carefully. I also took the time to clean the area around the filter/furnace housing. Works well. Lately we've had wildfires with smoky skies. The filter worked well and cleaned the air inside. Used the previous filter for more than 5 years. :) One side looks a bit dirty but the other side looks very very clean. These filters work well.

If you search for outdoor BBQware on Revain you will find MANY products. Most users say that plastic handles don't last long, so I looked for a product with wooden handles. After repeated use, the wooden handles seem to be durable and the SS quality is very good. The carrying case that comes with it is good and offers enough space for additional accessories. If you need a product that will last, then go for it.

ordered 2 - very good price IMO. I think our HVAC company charges about $50 for each replacement. I feel comfortable and found the installation went well if you have the patience and know the steps. I watched an installation video on YouTube which gave me information and confidence. It took about 30 minutes and I was very careful and cleaned the electrode wires and screen very well. Model 5000 Air Filter did the job. The electronic part of the filter worked fantastic charged dust particles stuck to the metal mesh. I had to take a brush and brush away electrically charged dust from the screen's metal frame. I bought a Merv 16 filter because of a virus, next time I will go back to the Merv 12 filter and see if there is a noticeable difference. Admittedly I bought this to use as an extra layer of protection in my face masks during this Covid outbreak.
