Love it! Best in Fish & Aquatic Animals Category

Love it. Super easy to use and read. I love that they come in this plastic container for easy reuse and that there are so many in the box that I always run out.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Updates available

inaccurate for fish and aquatic animals

readings do not match readings on my chemistry test kits, I only bought this for reference between readings on my chemistry test kits. However, I cannot rely on strip results

Pros
  • very impressive
Cons
  • not all

When used, they throw debris into the water.

0 stars. Negative if possible. Each stick has tiny bits of paper that come loose in my tank when I dive. I blew off the paper, did a visual check before dipping to see if there was any debris on it. I can't see anything, but tiny scraps of paper are still coming loose. Do not buy this brand.

Cons
  • Expensive

Seems to be suitable for fish and aquatic life

I find the water hardness quite strange, it sometimes shows a purple color when it's not even an option. I was concerned it would be inaccurate based on this and some reviews so I bought a more expensive liquid test kit and got similar results with nitrate, nitrite and pH.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Some problems

Great offer! for aquarium test kits

I like it very much. You will be robbed if you buy test strips at a pet store. This is definitely the way to go and I can test whenever I want without worrying about wasting money. They're really accurate, but you have to make sure you don't move the wand as they flow into other test squares pretty easily.

Pros
  • Top marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Very expensive

This helped diagnose the problem

We had an African Clawed Frog (Grow-A-Frog) approx. Lived in a 4 gallon aquarium for about 20 years. Recently, it turned out that he was very ill. Changing the water seemed to help. but her symptoms indicated that there might be a nitrate and/or pH problem. These strips helped pinpoint the problem (low pH) and we were able to fix it quite easily. Our frog can live forever. :)

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Nothing here

A little unreliable

Despite the many stripes in the kit, I can never do just one test. In 25% of the cases, the color change behaves strangely. Sometimes there are spots of different colors on the pads. Yes, I follow the instructions. The pH test is the most unreliable of all, typically reading 6.5-7. A reliable API water test kit (pipette version, not strips) will always show a pH of 7.8-8. I would trust the test. Nitrite and nitrate for a rough estimate, but kh and gh seem pretty weird too as the results varyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Doping ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Cons
  • Upgradable

Don't bet your fish's life on test strips

I have been an aquarist for many years and should have known better. I believed some of the reviews on these strips and thought they were more accurate than in the past. Big mistake. They had a month and in that time I lost 2 Mollies, 2 Swordtails and 3 Clown Chars after many years without any losses. I finally became suspicious of the test strips after two consecutive tests showed my nitrates first at 0 and then at very high levels. So I did what we all have to do and bought a new core APIโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Good but not great
