Great device - code readers and scan tools

This device worked perfectly. I'm not sure about the Nathan Dennison review and why it didn't work. I read online that you should always point your device at the sidewall of the tire where the sensor is located. I made the mistake of pointing it directly at the stem and it never worked. I used a side panel instead and for once it worked.

Pros
  • High marks for support and longevity from testers
Cons
  • Almost never

Read only - sensors will not activate/program

If you need to program/activate as advertised, consider other options and contact seller in advance. Do not buy this device. Long history of frustration and work delays, I contacted the manufacturer (who has excellent customer support) and gave them the software version. You have confirmed that it is read-only and cannot be updated. I will return the device and look for another one.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • High price

Only partially worked

I was only able to get this to read the IDs and pressure of my tire sensors (both factory and non-original). Even after installing an update to ensure my 2017 WRX was listed, I couldn't get it to copy my OEM tire sensors to my new aftermarket Schrader sensors, and I couldn't get it to add new IDs to generate. Tried everything I could think of to get this working but went to my local tire shop anyway. I have returned the item.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • This worries me

Don't waste your time with other cheaper tools.

First, let's get to the tools that Tire Rack wants to buy. After several calls and 2 such devices (those are ATEC tools), I bit the bullet and ordered this one. Sure, it's four times the price, but a tool that doesn't work isn't worth a penny. I received it and activated and recorded all TPMS sensors in less than a minute. No sweat, no hassle. I am pleased that it is easy to use with a fairly easy to use interface. Even though I read the instructions, one person could operate this tool without…

Pros
  • An Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Something Different

VT36 comes from ATEQ in more than one version

According to my email exchange with ATEQ customer service the VT36 from ATEQ comes in more than one version. is not designed to "program" TPMS sensors, just enable them. You can't update the software for it either. In the description of this device and in the description of the VT36 on the ATEQ website in general, it is referred to as an activation sensor / TPMS programming tool. I think it depends on the software installed by ATEQ. So I have a set of new blank Schrader TPMS sensors that I want

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • quality
