This product fits very snugly in the brass case. I'm returning it and buying a genuine Kohler part. The machined specs should be 1-2mm different as the original Koehler cartridge I removed slides in and out with no friction. This product is stuck so you cannot make small adjustments to its position.

This failed thirteen weeks after I installed it. There was a tide in my wall draining into my basement. I removed this part only to find that it wasn't marked as a genuine Kohler part and the rivets holding it were loose and caked. Thank you for the water bill. I'll send it to your office.

When I tried to install a new cartridge it was obvious that the valve/handle assembly would not fit. The front "fin" was wider than the original Kohler cartridge I replaced. Instead of sending it back I was able to file down the plastic so the valving system could fit over the already narrower rib. It wasn't easy and I would suggest ordering a genuine Kohler part rather than this one.

This is not a genuine Kohler part. I wasn't aware of that when I bought it. I actually bought a couple because of a leaking shower valve. None of them worked and all kept leaking. This fits to replace my existing PBU (check the part numbers on the Kohler website to make sure this will work). Bought to fix a shower issue where we could only get ice cold water or boiling hot water. Tip: Make sure you clean the brass surfaces that come into contact with the rearmost o-rings. There were some mineral deposits on these surfaces which caused the showerhead to constantly drip - cleaning these surfaces (sandpaper) and applying silicone grease (plumber's lube) fixed this issue.
