Make sure you or other buyers of this product know that 95% of the time you should not expect a smooth color mix. I would recommend this product if you are interested in the "tile" method of painting or mixed media techniques such as washing out paint to bring out your ideas and then going over it with gouache or casein (or acrylic or ink). I love these journals! So far I have bought both the 5.5x8 and 8x8 and they are both really impressive! They feel very solid and heavy in my hands - I know they won't slip or wobble with use. I bought a Bee Paper watercolor book to use for my Inktober drawings along with the Derwent Inktense Travel Pan. The paper in this watercolor book is made from 100% cold-pressed cotton. Although I usually prefer hot pressed paper, especially when using ink, I was blown away by the quality of this album.
