Description of Ultimate Protection and Comfort: BELL Stratus MIPS Adult Road Bike Helmet

LIGHTWEIGHT INTERNAL POLYCARBONATE ROLL CAGE FUSION, & IN-MOLDING POLYCARBONATE SHELL - A process pioneered by Bell bonds the helmet's outer shell to the EPS foam liner to create a sturdier helmet. MIPS-EQUIPPED - MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, which is a leading slip-plane technology inside the helmet designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts. FLOAT FIT & NO-TWIST TRI-GLIDES - A minimalist, lightweight fit system with an easy-to-turn rubber over-molded dial for adjustments (integrated with MIPS). Quick-adjust fasteners that help keep straps flat and properly positioned. SWEAT GUIDE & OVERBROW VENTILATION - Sweat Guide pad design pulls moisture away from the brow pad and away from eyewear. Overbrow Ventilation features intake ports on the brow of the helmet to usher in cool air and push it through the air-channel matrix for full-head ventilation. SPECIFICATIONS - Small (52-56 cm), Medium (55-59 cm), and Large (58-62 cm) Sizes. Important: always take a head measurement. Head sizes and shapes can vary, even within an age range. Using a helmet that does not fit can be dangerous; 18 vents.

Daylight robbery is

I am very angry. I bought this product because Consumer Report recommended it. However, just three months after purchase, the internal mechanism that adjusts to your head stopped working. You turn that little dial on the back to try and get it on your head and it won't work. And I don't ride my bike that much, maybe twice a week on average, because I don't have much time. It seemed pretty faint to begin with, but I haven't given it much thought since Consumer Report recommended it, it didn't go

very comfortable

I had a Bontrager helmet (same class, cost etc. as this Bell helmet) that I had ridden 4000 miles in over several seasons when the plastic supports on the back started to deteriorate during the trip solved . Over the years I've tried every famous helmet except the bell so based on the reviews I decided to give it a try. All in all, I didn't know what I was missing - the Bell helmet fits my head like a glove and is supremely comfortable (I've done four 20-mile rides in it so far in the heat of…

Best MIPS helmet for road builders

This is the best engineer helmet I have ever had. First, it's MIPS technology that received high marks in Consumer Reports and Virginia Tech reviews. The fit is excellent, particularly the adjustment of the chin strap for around-the-ear comfort. The ventilation is also very good. But the best feature is subtle and overlooked in the reviews. There are two cutouts on the front edge of the helmet where the two ventilation openings end. They're fairly small, but give you the ability to see…

Nice helmet but... - Helmets & Accessories

I've worn a Bell helmet for a long time. Their new MIPS helmets are lightweight, reasonably comfortable, and well ventilated, but I had some durability issues with their wraparound fit system. First, the gum they apply to the dial degrades relatively quickly, becomes sticky, and falls off. The wheel still works but the gum is not worth the cost of applying it. A one-piece wheel used on less expensive helmets will work well. Worse still, the adjustment system can be over adjusted so that the…

Comfortable, well ventilated

Short answer: This helmet is comfortable, well ventilated and rated highly in the Virginia Tech study. Buy it. I bought this helmet because my existing one was a few years old and a Virginia Tech study was recently published that scientifically evaluated several different bike helmets and this one ranked in the top tier of helmets for best protection. I'm not sure if you need to change your helmet every 3-5 years as manufacturers recommend, but it just hurts your wallet. Likewise, some believe…
