03 Escalade with Shot Air Ride shock absorbers / Inexpensive repair

01-06 Escalade owners with shock absorbers. I installed them on my 03 Escalade. The trip is acceptable. The ride height is also right with Cadillac springs. I have the service pause warning light @ on, but who cares? I press the info button on the steering wheel and it goes away (no sound or something). All I did was disconnect the air shock, remove the old shock wires, and voila, I have solid suspension again. If I were to replace my air shock absorbers and injection compressor it would cost…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Nothing

Good shock absorbers but new springs are needed!

I gave this product 5 stars but was a little dissatisfied when I found out a few months later that the springs also needed changing. I believe that is true in some or most cases. If your car has ZW7 (Nivomat) suspension, these shock absorbers will fit, but you will also need to change the springs! Genuine Sachs shocks are higher pressure and are designed to work with stock springs to support some of the vehicle's weight. Bilstein shock absorbers do not support the vehicle. I didn't notice any…

Decidedly helped Tahoe jump/swing.

Installed these on a 2011 Tahoe and it completely eliminated the wobbly feeling on the road. The truck only had 59,000, but the factory dampers were rubbish! Tahoe wanted to bounce violently and shook my keys like crazy! Installs in about an hour on each side of the driveway with hand tools. You will need a size 21 wrench. Be sure to tighten the screws securely as they can rattle at times. There is also a wiring harness/connector on the passenger side at the top of the frame that you can…

Pros
  • Handsome
Cons
  • Poor Kit

Easy to DIY, use a jack to make it easier, ratchet end of the box too.

Suburban 1500 4x4 2005 all in stock. Replaced original shock absorbers with a set of these 5100. Initial comments are based on a test drive with new front wheels only. The truck still rolls around corners, but a little less. It's definitely less springy and feels a little more durable. Be sure to replace all 4 shock absorbers. I have a question about stacking top mount bushings (2 top and bottom) and concave washers (2 top and bottom) on top of each other. I found the kanji instructions useless

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Negative present

They replaced the stock shocks on my 2004 Suburban and what else can I say other than they're Bilsteins - and they work fine. I believe the hype, the 5100 is a good upgrade for mixed on and off road use. I don't ride seriously off-road, but I do enjoy riding forest trails to get to remote campsites, and they're good for that. Recommended as an upgrade when it's time to replace your stock shocks. The stock shocks on a 2004 Suburban aren't that bad, and I was able to get 50,000 before they had to

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
