If you have any, you need lots of them

I've lived in three houses with these hinges, so here's my advice: if you're moving into a house with these hinges, buy a couple dozen and put them in yours Storage box tools, kits or boxes, you will need them. I change them about twice a month. We have a lot of non-standard cabinets in our house, so one of them is usually missing, running around creaking, waiting for a replacement. Hang it up comfortably, break it four times with the drill, test the quick-release fastener, and you're a heroโ€ฆ

Poor quality, good for hardware

About 10 years ago the previous owner remodeled the kitchen I own now and installed the cabinets with 23 of these hinges. During this time, 9 loops (40%) failed. Is it unreasonable to expect a metal hinge to last the life of a cabinet? Or at least 10 years? What happens is the plastic parts become brittle and break, and then the hinge won't stay open and/or closed. I didn't want to repurchase this brand but was concerned that a different brand would not fit the inserts in the closet doors.โ€ฆ

They break down all the time and need to be replaced regularly.

They keep breaking and I have to keep replacing them. There is a piece of plastic on the swivel joint that keeps breaking off. This is clearly a design or material defect. They actually last a few years, but when I have 40 or so in my kitchen it seems like I always replace one or two of these, so I always have a spare on hand. They were installed in my kitchen and due to the design of the door I didn't have a great deal of alternatives so I keep buying and replacing a few at a time. If I wereโ€ฆ

The problem is their durability.

Everything seems fine, but the plastic part inside keeps breaking and needs to be replaced. I've bought 40 replacements so far. It seems that some are already on the second change. When the first door pops out it still stays closed if I'm careful. Problem is, if the second breaks before I can find someone to replace the first, the closet door stays open until both are replaced. I have lived here for about 7 years and they were 12 when I bought my house. I have lived in my previous homes forโ€ฆ

Perfect replacement for a 20 year old version of the same hinge

I have a kitchen full of cabinets that was built in 1996. I renovated the cabinets in 2016 and they look great except for one small issue. First the hinges failed. I opened the closet and heard a loud bang, and a small piece of plastic flew off one (sometimes both) hinges. And ever since then, the closet door would slam nasty every time I opened or close it and wouldn't close as smoothly as before. On my kitchen, the Blum 33.3600 turned out to be identical to the original hinges (except theโ€ฆ

Well they work as expected and replaced my old hinges which looked the same but had a different part number. The screws were a different length than my old hinges, so I reused my old screws. They have the same plastic spring construction as my old hinges so they'll probably break again eventually, but they fixed an issue where some of my cabinets wouldn't stay closed. After fixing my problem cabinets, I looked at my other cabinets to see how the hinges worked and noticed that most otherโ€ฆ

If you haven't already, don't get bogged down by these hinges.

If you've moved into a house with a kitchen full of cabinets with these self-closing hinges - my condolences! Chances are you have or will come across some doors that don't close completely. They are the ones who benefit the most. I have found that after 15 years of service with these hinges their effective functional life is around 5-7 years. After that, you either endure partially open doors or, if necessary, buy replacements with new plastic cam bushings, which are the essence of theirโ€ฆ

Good news, bad news

First off, the good news is that these hinges are a perfect replacement for the hinges that were installed when our kitchen was redone 13 years ago. The old hinges were stamped 110 on the metal, but the plastic on the back had a different code: 30.310-11.02. The new 33.3600 hinges look identical, fit perfectly in the existing holes and mate perfectly with the metal parts on the cabinet frame. Replacing the loop took about 90 seconds. The bad news is that the new hinge shares the same metal andโ€ฆ
