Type of review

The only thing I don't like about this coffee maker is the carafe. And since I usually only make a half-batch (4 "cups" or 20 ounces) for myself, I found an insulated stainless steel mug that you can use in place of a carafe for brewing. The brew basket fits perfectly in the mouth of the AVEX, Brew Pint Glass, 20 oz, Slate and the height is perfect too. Simply fill the water tank with up to 4 cups. It even leaves some room for cream.

Coffee maker for 3 months

Our first coffee maker worked for 4 months then it started turning off mid brew and then stopped working altogether. The company suggested this was due to hard water build-up, although I descaled every month (the manual recommends every 3 months). They sent us a replacement machine (hence the 1 star) and this time I descaled every 2 weeks. It lasted 3 months; same problem. I emailed the company (as there was no "Contact Us" link on the order or product page) and will update the review when I…

Will break in two months

I bought this coffee maker and cleaned it according to the manufacturer's instructions. I have had to replace this coffee maker five times this year within the one year warranty. The coffee maker worked flawlessly for two months, and then the heating element turned itself off after brewing just a cup or two of coffee. I would turn it back on and it would do the same. I told the company it looked like a manufacturer's fault, but every car they sent me wouldn't last more than two months. My…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Don't know

The coffee maker is fine, but there are severe microcracks in the clear plastic container in the area next to the coffee basket. I've had this coffee maker since late October '16 and have used it occasionally (I also use instant espresso, french press, tea, etc.). I can't find a link to contact Amazon about this. It's already past the return date, but I think the materials for a $140 coffee maker shouldn't do anything other than perform as they were intended. It seems that whatever material the

Great coffee maker and great customer service

This coffee maker makes the most consistent coffee we've ever had. .Pro: Constant water temperature from 195 to 200 degrees from the shower head. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for 3-4 hours. Minimum number of moving parts. It has a "Bloom" function to moisten the coffee grounds before brewing. to pour the last piece of coffee. It seems that if you don't descale consistently, there's a lot of steam coming out of the vents above the shower head. Only holds 8 5 ounce mugs (not really, but worth…

Pros

Cons
  • No performance

I have had 3 Bonavita coffee makers in 12 years -- Current, 1 month old. They have been rated highly for delivering water between 195 and 205 degrees. My first 2 did and worked well for years. However, this model must have been redesigned by the tea drinking marketing team! Decanter - the spout has been removed. I challenge anyone who can pour water from a carafe without spilling anything! (but a new cover is better).2. The brew cycle starts with water at a much lower temperature and eventually

Great Brewing - Kitchen & Dining

There are many reviews of the Bonavita 8 Cup Coffee Maker and the Junior 1500TS 5 Cup Coffee Maker. I ordered it after extensive research. The most important thing for me was the end product. great coffee. I'm by no means a coffee snob, but I know what I like. For background, I love savory roasts (French and Italian), grind my beans daily, and have a Gaggia Classic espresso maker and a Breville bean grinder. Note that the Bonavita coffee maker is a very simple machine. No bells, no whistles, no

GREAT Brewery, SLAYING Carafe

I've heard so many good things about this coffee maker, especially how it got SCAA approval for a home use drip coffee maker, that I was intrigued. After comparing it to the MUCH more expensive Moccamaster I pulled the trigger and bought this brewer. This is the next best decision I've ever made in terms of coffee quality, let alone coffee quality, ever after purchasing a good coffee grinder (Capresso 560). We have a lot of great coffee options in Seattle. The key to this coffee maker is the…

The Trick to Cleaning the Bonavita Coffee Maker

Cleaning the Bonavita Coffee Maker I'm writing this review so everyone knows how to properly clean the Bonavita coffee maker. I use my second Bonavita coffee maker and one of the things I found wrong is that it doesn't produce hot water when it gets dirty but produces a lot of steam. This means that you get a lot of steam during the brewing process and very little (strong) coffee at the end. I also used URNEX and CLR cleaning powder. Both are great for cleaning, but they don't always solve the…

Bonavita vs. MoccaMaster

I love a good cup of coffee and can't remember the last time I didn't start the day with a cup. After much research I bought Bonavita and was not disappointed. This was for a home away from home - we have a MoccaMaster in our main house which I love but really didn't believe it cost over $300. Both brew great coffee with precise heat, and both are certified by the American Specialty Coffee Association. Bonavita is marked with 8 cups and MoccaMaster with 10. Both brew about 40 ounces of coffee…
