BOSCH RS6046 Hard Hook-&-Loop Sander Backing Pad: Premium Quality for Effective Sanding Review

It's perfect. I have bought this pad 3 times as it has worn out (I do a lot of large countertops) and every time I change it I feel like I have a brand new grinder in my hands. It turns itself off within a minute and then I'm ready to go again. My Bosch is 9 years old and with this mat it works just as it did the day I first took it out of the box!

The original velcro strap that comes with the sander has a metal brace on the back that fits into the sander. This aftermarket one does not. After 5 minutes with this powerful grinder he removed the plastic that was supposed to go in the grinder. It would be great if they had the same metal bracket as the mill.

Cannot rate durability at this time but during installation I can tell it is OEM quality as you would expect would. Installation couldn't be simpler, just one screw. You will need a 5mm Allen key. The exchange lasted 60 seconds. Ripples on the edge of the original base plate caused the sandpaper to wear out prematurely. I was probably too aggressive with using the edge of the grinding wheel.

Perfect for my Bosch 3727 This pad is a bit harder than the one that came with the grinder which I like. It looks like it will last longer as the softer upholstery has started to crumble and fall apart after a few years. Since it's a stiffer foam I think it will last longer. Good for sanding flat plates and you can get to the edge and not worry about rounding corners as the soleplate doesn't flex as much.

Now on my third set of hard and soft lasts in just a few years. Surprised how quickly these pads wear out and can't hold the disc properly. Once the hooks disengage and your discs fly away, you'll be stuck without a grinder until you find a new backing pad. In many years of heavy use, the workshop has never had this problem with PPE and PPE support pads. Discs are half the price! If the PSA disc isn't sticking, a quick wipe of the pad with solvent and you're back in business.

This cushion fits the Bosch 3727 DEVS perfectly. The velcro on my original Bosch pad no longer held the sanding discs after 2 years (the pad was otherwise in surprisingly good condition considering my use. I got it in the mail today and while it fits and works ($15.00 vs $40.00) I can't believe it will last long. This particular one doesn't have a metal disc on the back. The metal element on the bracket keeps the pad in the right position without wobbling or loosening. This one is made entirely of plastic.
