Worth a small price compared to standard drain valves.

High quality valve, much better than conventional rotary valves. Not only does this valve seal more securely and easily than cheap rotary valves, it's only a 1/4 turn so you don't have to reach under the compressor and try to turn the valve to open it. a quick twist and it's open or closed.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Big improvement on my Porter Cable Compressor

I used this Bostitch valve to replace the valve on the bottom of my Porter Cable pancake compressor that had a worn o-ring. Hopefully the ball valve design will last longer, but it's a great upgrade nonetheless! Instant on/off versus slow rotation. Also, the drain doesn't get stuck in the tank, so I hope the water drainage improves a bit.

Weak metal, broke twice

It worked really well at first but I ended up having to take it off to clean it and the damn thing broke on me leaving a thread in the air compressor. All went well and then a piece just came loose and it was painful to remove the remaining piece from the thread. I figured maybe I screwed it up in some weird way and would have to use the compressor again, so I tried putting it back in and the damn thing broke somewhere else. It wasn't hard to turn, just very weak metal

Recently Solved My Least Favorite Problem

This is the right way to go when replacing the air tank release valve. I rusted one of the screw types and snapped flush, necessitating drilling on my 33 gallon vertical handcraft compressor. This should fix the problem for a while. It sticks out a little more than a drain valve screw, but it's worth every penny. It's 1/4-16 NPT, which is a pretty standard size for air tank drain valves, and the pre-applied threadlock wasn't too thick. which was a nice change.

Easier to use in air tools Parts and Accessories

I rebuilt my Campbell Hausfeld 25 gallon 5 hp horizontal compressor including new belt, gauges, filter and some fittings including drain valve. I've had one that opens or closes fully and was difficult to use. I also had a welder's patch on the bottom front because of a small hole (always drain water after use) for $50. I also repainted it, so my total cost was about $70. This far outweighs the cost of a new comparable compressor. This compressor is about 20 years old but runs like new and is…

The perfect replacement for junk Craftsman valves!

I have a Craftsman 33 gallon compressor. Although I haven't been the best at emptying it every time I use it, I still try to empty it every now and then. The last time I drained it it wouldn't stop leaking because the Craftsman valve had failed. I've always wondered why Craftsman doesn't just use a dump ball valve, so while looking for a replacement I found this! It took seconds to install and it works great. The threat size was the same as my compressor and I had no leaks. Now it's very easy…

Craftsman Compressor Drain Valve Replacement

This quarter turn design replaced the threaded valve in my compressor. This design opens faster and should be more reliable. The threaded element in my Craftsman tank got stuck and I couldn't open the valve to drain the tank. When replacing the valve, make sure that the tank is depressurized, since the valve will work at any pressure in it when the valve is unscrewed from the tank. Using a fitting such as B. a blow tip, does not guarantee that the pressure in the tank is zero. Position the…

Why don't air compressors come with them!?

I have a 20 gallon Craftsman air compressor that I bought about 10 years ago. The drain valve on the underside had to be turned with pliers, which is a big problem considering it's on the underside of the compressor. It was always such a pain. Over time the pliers abraded the rough surface to turn the screw and it was still leaking so I bought one to replace. That went smoothly and it was helpful that the new drain valve was already supplied with pipe grease. Now bend and turn, open or close…

This is a compressor tank drain valve to buy!

Purchased to replace the OEM drain valve on my Campbell Hausfeld HL4315 compressor. The original brass rotary valve was always bulky and while functional, it wasn't easy to use, especially when I stumbled upon it. This Bostitch valve was the perfect fit. Just removed the old valve, wirebrushed the tank threads to make sure they were clean and screwed in the new valve. The whole thing took two minutes (much less time than my initial scolding when I realized the original valve needed to be…
