I use it to extend the life of analog audio equipment.

20 years ago you could buy an A/V receiver with REC IN and REC OUT and later AV IN/AV OUT function for analogue equipment. Then, about 5 years ago, the last major manufacturer started phasing out AV OUT. I was lucky enough to get a Yamaha RX-V677 with AV OUT capability as well as ROOM 2 OUT here at Revain, but I had a lot of analog equipment (cassette decks (reel-to-reel, cassette), CD recorders, VHS, S -VHS and DVD recorders but no way to get REC OUT or AV OUT for all of these devices Cable…

Pros
  • 1-input 4-outlet distribution amplifier
Cons
  • Low maintenance

I bought 4 Dayton Audio SUB-1500s (highly recommend them btw. AMAZING value for money) and needed a way to get the LFE signal from my AVR to each of them get without any loss of performance. This was the most economical solution. I hear NO noise from the subs, EVER. There is no noticeable distortion unless you clip the inputs (tested on an old analog oscilloscope, so unfortunately no numbers). The star is docked because the inrush current is handled very poorly. Plugging the power supply into…

Pros
  • No signal loss
Cons
  • Ok, but...

Works great Tivo - DVD - Radio Sirus

I have 3 of these devices. Family room and kitchen 1 are for DVD viewing, same for FR and kitchen viewing. I used a slightly different one. I only use the audio section to distribute the audio output from the Sirius Starmate (with 3.5mm to RCA cable) to a Dist amplifier and then 3 outputs, 1 in FR next to the Sirius Starmate for the sound system (FR and monoblock amplifiers in the basement for the PA system 1st floor) 1 for MBR and 1 for office. This allows the Sirius radio to play in the MBR…

Pros
  • DVD-R/Rw and DVD+R/Rw playback and recording
Cons
  • Negative available
