Plastic case, but all functions are fine. I've used it to connect a USB hard drive, keyboard and mouse to my new Thunderbolt 3 laptop and it didn't miss a beat. It's probably not a good idea to pull 3 amps through three USB 30. Type A ports by connecting three 3.5" hard drives, but you should know that without me knowing.

Perfect functionality for 2 years

I've been using it since the end of 2018 when I bought my new laptop. The laptop came with only two USB-A ports and no Ethernet port, which is the trend towards slimmer laptops with a USB-C port. This adapter was (and is) perfect for my needs. It's small enough that I can safely stash it in my computer bag when not in use, and it's easy to plug in and ready to go. It has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years and thanks to the great price and functionality I'm buying another one for my daughter's

Limited functionality

Apart from an installation that requires downloading some drivers and registry updates, there were no problems for the first few days. However, after a few days, I noticed that my 1GB internet speed was freezing even when watching videos on Youtube, while there was no problem with the same WiFi connection. I don't think this hub supports both Ethernet and full 3x USB functionality which is the main reason I bought it from a well known brand like Cable Matters.

Sophisticated but functional

I usually use this with an ethernet and printer device in the next USB port. While I didn't notice it at first, I did find that the device behaved as if it wasn't there for several months when it booted up. I can solve this problem by unplugging the printer and plugging it back in. Turning off the printer is enough for the device to present itself and once it's up and running I can easily plug in the printer. I'm not going to replace the device with this, but it's annoying enough to warrant an…

Works great, plug and play install

This USB-C hub has an Ethernet port and three USB 3 ports. I plugged it into the USB-C port on my HP Envy 15 Windows 10 laptop. The USB-C hub was recognized immediately and the drivers loaded automatically. I didn't have to download anything to make it work. I tested the ethernet connection and the throughput for the 1Gbps ethernet port was good. The three USB 3 ports also worked. This is a good device for a laptop without a built-in Ethernet port.

Plug and play, but drivers support slightly faster internet speeds

Pros: -relatively cheap for the price -acceptable build quality (considering the plastic case and low price) -everything works out of the box (will be updated later as will be I have more time to work with it) - Plug and Play (see another section for more info) Cons: - not enough power to support an external hard drive (this is stated in the datasheet, so this wasn't a surprise to me , but if you're looking to add some memory to your thin and light laptop, you might need to look elsewhere)…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
