As such, there are no disadvantages, it is convenient to use.

Much has been written about the advantages and disadvantages, so I want to say about the main thing for me personally - about reliability. The lens has a very delicate construction due to the moving part. There was a sliding fall of a camera with a lens from a height of 30 cm in a lowepro closed soft bag. After that, the focus jammed. After 15 minutes, we managed to "unwedge" it, gently deflecting the moving part of the lens first to one side, then to the other, and turning the focus ring.

Pros
  • At 1.2 a very small flu, literally millimeters
Cons
  • At 1.2, the strongest XA, like on no other lens.

Good and quality product, but there are flaws.

Slow, heavy, lame and wobbly (google aberrations "chromatism" and "coma") is a piece of expensive optical glasses;) A bunch of aberrations spoils the resolution; if in the center of the frame the picture is not bad even at f / 1.2, then there will be a continuous "soap" on the edge (aberrations: coma, position chromatism, astigmatism, field curvature) However, its value lies in its incorrectness! This lens draws a distorted, but sooooo beautiful picture! So beautiful that I got rid of 50/1.2L,

Pros
  • Magic thing. Makes beauty
Cons
  • Heavy, slow, expensive, easy to damage rear lens

I am very happy with this purchase, I will advise everyone!

No, the main aperture in this little thing is not. The main thing is drawing. I rented a lens several times before buying. Actually, for doubters, this is the most reasonable testing option. After I found out that it’s not bad for them to shoot not only portraits, but the whole event like a wedding, I decided to purchase it. In general, my opinion about this lens is that the best qualities are revealed in good light (here the lens will give odds to almost all Canon lenses), and in poor…

Pros
  • Picture, aperture (working aperture 1.2), color reproduction, volume, bokeh. A solid look and an object of pride :)
Cons
  • Weight, slow AF, minimum focusing distance of almost a meter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product is working, but I will not repeat the purchase for sure.

What has not been written about him! Even that this is a "Canon icon" :) In the aggregate of all + and -, the glass is very controversial. Especially comparing in terms of the overall balance of characteristics with the "classmates" EF 135L and EF35L. If we take into account the price, then, as they say, "figs" is not necessary! The arrogance and greed of Canon has no limits, the price is overpriced by 40-50 percent! Who bought their equipment is now a "slave of the lamp" - prepare the money…

Pros
  • Color rendition, pattern, aperture ratio, red stripe :).
Cons
  • Heavy, plastic, vacuum cleaner, "bitten" bokeh, "brake" autofocus, HA. Pattern similar to EF50/1.2L (excellent, but not better.).

A very high-quality product, I take it not for the first time.

This is Canon's best lens! In my opinion, he has no competitors and analogues. The lens does not just make great shots, it has its own unique style and character. I have been using it for a couple of months and never cease to be amazed at its capabilities and the beauty of the resulting images. I specifically compared it with my other fast lens (50mm f / 1.2) and found the absolute superiority of 85!

Pros
  • Bright, juicy, flashy color reproduction, amazing detail, incredible aperture!
Cons
  • No.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best price for this product, will buy more!

I bought it a week ago complete with 24-70 NEW, which also has a 5D Mark 3 carcass . I use 85 more often . Guys, don’t confuse it with 85 1,8, they are completely different . that 85 - from 1,2 it’s slow for 2 seconds from 85 1,8, but for such a picture it’s worth waiting 2 seconds, the fact that it’s heavy is nonsense, it seemed easy to me, but 70-200 is really heavy ! Take a lens for creativity and opens up new horizons with F1,2 all the more . May I shoot my favorite lens only on it

Pros
  • 1) Very sharp 2) DOF and bokeh are very, very nice 3) Manual focus is very accurate and smooth ring travel, I liked it 4) There are no misses in autofocus 5) Shooting a video is very pleasant, as the background lathers and separates the person being filmed from the background
Cons
  • They are not even for that kind of money

Perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

So, if you need a fairy tale in the frame, you are in for it. The most "artistic" glass of the entire line of Canon glasses, probably. I have 50/1.2, 85/1.2, 135/2.0, 24-70/2.8II, 70-200/2.8, 24-300L in my arsenal. This is the slowest, but the most beloved. None of my glasses have such bokeh. Universal focal length, and it is convenient on the street and you can shoot in the studio. On the street, from any "bush at the entrance" he makes a "fabulous forest" in skillful hands. When compared with

Pros
  • divinely beautiful
Cons
  • Price, weight, thoughtfulness. But all this can be forgiven him.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product, not disappointed.

Buyers of this lens are fascinated by its most basic characteristic - Aperture. Really - I shot a person at night in the forest, illuminating with a lighter - the aperture ratio drives. When using this lens, you encounter two inconveniences: - A moving trunk that, if the lens is removed from the camera, cannot be screwed back - without voltage on the contacts, there is no reaction to turning the focus ring. - the rear lens is flush with the bayonet, even the contact pad was placed…

Pros
  • - Aperture. - The weight. -Price - there must be things inaccessible to "students"
Cons
  • Price. All the same, a bit high. The severity of the front lens is the slowness of autofocus. Departing trunk - and this is for this money ?!

Wonderful quality, one hundred percent satisfied!

Blurring even at 1.4 is noticeably stronger than on the new 85 1.4, and even more so at 1.2. Compared to 50 1.2 koma in the corners is much better, the bokeh is softer and smoother, well, sharper in the corners, although 50 1.2 is also a super lens. Aberrations are stronger than on 135 2.0, but they appear very rarely and are easily corrected. In general, it turned out to be sharper than all L-fixes from 24 to 135 on the same apertures.

Pros
  • Blurring is very strong and smooth, beautiful drawing. Colors, contrast. Sharpness from edge to edge already at 1.2 is excellent for close-ups, with 1.4 you can generally shoot anything. Compact body, even more compact than the new 85 1.4.
Cons
  • Dust flies inside over time, but nothing will get on the matrix, because. covered with a lens at the back. A little heavy, although given that it is 1.2, no one has it lighter and with such quality. Focus in the dark is not fast, but it is always very accurate.

The item was good, I'll recommend it to my friends.

There are pluses and minuses in everything. The noble rich THORIGIOUS pattern of this glass greatly spoils the very slow autofocus, therefore it is not suitable for reporting at all. But the staging, leisurely shooting is the leader here. . So whatever you say, Canon is the leader and ahead of the rest. I won’t put the five because it’s not ideal and I haven’t met the ideal yet, but the four is solid.

Pros
  • Colors, paints, sharpness, contrast, volume, the picture is still the best of all my glasses at a price of up to 70,000.
Cons
  • Autofocus is the slowest I've tested. Heavy. Expensive.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch and I recommend the product for purchase.

I tested it when I bought it: the specimen was very successful in terms of sharpness. Focus is normal. They scared a little HA on an open hole, but this is still a feature of the model, not an instance! When buying, I was very afraid to be deceived in expectations during practical use, and not during testing. The very first session left behind uncertainty and doubts. I was struck by the softness of the picture, some brevity and completeness. The transitions in the blur zone just made me fall…

Pros
  • Gorgeous blur character in the blur zone The softness of the picture combined with sharpness from 1.2 Accurate color reproduction! Accurate and tenacious focusing! High micro contrast High resolution Small depth of field and, as a result, high creative possibilities! Constructive The optimal focal length for portrait shooting on a full sensor (this is not really a plus for this lens)
Cons
  • The weight The focusing speed is not high enough, but it doesn’t matter for portrait, staged shooting I almost forgot for all the pluses of HA on an open hole!

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn³'t expect the quality to be this good.

This is Canon's best portrait lens. He has his own recognizable pattern. Nikon does not have glass that draws THE SAME way. People choose the Canon system after working with this glass. 85 has a lot of haters. Because expensive and capricious. No Sigma 85mm shoots SO. Even nearby. Features: does not work well with 5D Mark 2, due to the weak brains of Mark-2. With Mark-3 it works fine, the number of marriages has dropped dramatically. Who wants to have a portrait with a beautiful…

Pros
  • 1.2 working aperture. Unique three-dimensional drawing, recognizable and beautiful. Not only Canon has the best portrait lens, but Nikon also has no competitor.
Cons
  • This is Canon's best portrait lens, but whoever says there are no flaws, don't believe it. I have been working with this glass for three years. It is awesome, but very capricious. Strongly chromate in the open, especially in the sun. Tree branches bloom in purple, red hues. But the chromaticity can be corrected in the editor, but the drawing can never be imitated.

A normal product, but they wanted more for the money.

Perhaps my review will seem paradoxical to someone, but I can not resist writing it about this model. The cry of the soul, so to speak. I rented it to test it, it's practically brand new. Unfortunately, I discovered several fundamental shortcomings for myself. I don’t argue, of course everything is subjective, maybe my hands are crooked, but still ... Maybe I came across a defective copy - I won’t say otherwise, but the very first impressions simply amazed me (already at home). Basically

Pros
  • Everyone knows.
Cons
  • Autofocus... In low light, it refuses to focus. It does not focus categorically on a monotonous background.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

I like the pattern, blur, bokeh, awesome colors, micro-contrast. Holds backlight well, after fine tuning it is very sharp. Very expensive for a lens - a fix in my opinion. I would call the staged photo and the portrait part of the report as an application. The desire to purchase this lens periodically visits, but the price tag stops. It is more profitable to rent for shooting, if it's worth it. It is heavy enough for long shooting, but it is intended more for episodes. For reporting, you…

Pros
  • Color, plasticity of the picture, bokeh, perfectly holds the backlight.
Cons
  • The only and very strong drawback is the weight and dimensions. To a much lesser extent: autofocus does not allow you to relax, for fast fixes this is a frequent occurrence. Last: Price.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Feel free to buy, for such a price, the quality is simply amazing.

I am surprised by the comments of some, how can weight be attributed to disadvantages? Focusing speed? This is not a reporter 24-105 which is made at the expense of quality tenacious and fast autofocus. This is glass for thoughtful, unhurried, staged photography. I set up 2-3 light sources, reflectors , I removed the model, looked at it, added backlight, removed the drawing one, etc. This is glass where you don’t need to shoot 8 frames per second, an object moving around the perimeter. This…

Pros
  • Sharpness, colors, bokeh.
Cons
  • no.

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product, not disappointed.

A lens for good staged scenes, if everything in the composition is set correctly, then this lens can produce a frame in a million. If you are trying to photograph in reportage mode, then there will not be much sense. To be honest, I still don’t understand why AF lives its own life, especially at f1.2. at a distance to the object of more than 2.5 meters, AF hits in 60% of cases, although there are no obvious signs of back and front focus. At close range, it almost always hits. PS If you think…

Pros
  • Unique color reproduction, very beautiful bokeh, aperture ratio, pattern.
Cons
  • HA, AF

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product, a pleasure to use.

I switched to canon only because of this glass. Been using Nikon for over 5 years. There were almost all top fixes .. favorite focal length 85mm. After buying 85mm 1.4 from Nikon, there was some disappointment ... There was not enough sharpness on the d800 .. Actually, that's why I decided to switch to kenon. Happy unspeakably. I use a bunch of 85mm 1.2 and 5dm3. The sharpness is incredible. I haven't filmed this yet. I advise you

Pros
  • Volume! Sharpness! Background blur
Cons
  • chromaticity

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

It took me a long time to choose between it and the 135mm F/2.0, I turned it over in my hands for a long time, tried to take pictures... in the end I came to the conclusion that they are not competitors, but complement each other. I use it on FF with 5D MK III. Very convenient focal length for portrait shooting. The problem with autofocus speed on the MK III is no longer so acute. For several months I got used to F / 1.2, since misses at such an aperture are not uncommon, but the lens can and…

Pros
  • Excellent blurring in the blur zone. The grip you get at f/1.2 gives you some incredible creative possibilities. Excellent color reproduction, very often the frame turns out even more beautiful than it actually was, without any processing at all. Excellent sharpness, especially in the center of the frame, already starting from the minimum aperture. Quality construct. A very convenient focal length for portrait photography.
Cons
  • Perceptible chromatic aberrations up to F/2.0. For some, the weight and price, although with the MK III the weight distribution is very pleasant, and the price - I do not regret a single.

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like the product very much, fully consistent with my expectations.

First I bought his "replacement" 135 2.0, yes, the lens is a fairy tale, the picture is chic, recognizable, but, an infection, the focal length is too long for me. It was used extremely rarely, and 95% on the street. Sold. I bought 85, I got the first buzz when shooting a baptism in a church - damn it, 1.2 + the ability to set the shutter speed to 1\125 without the risk of stirring (there was always a risk at 135 2.0 - I tried not to shoot below 1\160, or even 1\200, and this is already damage

Pros
  • Bokeh, focal length, pattern, aperture ratio, appearance, chic snap-on lens hood :)
Cons
  • Trunk, but it's more of an aesthetic minus.
