Screws are difficult to install because they are not self-drilling and the metal is so cheap they can be tapped even if the holes are drilled. I HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE a terribly cheap bar too. My 18 month old daughter can open it and ruin the finish! This is a two stage opening process that opens in one direction only and DOES NOT latch when closed. You have to block it manually. I LOVE this goal. I have a Great Dane German Shepherd mix that weighs over 100lbs at only 10 months. He enjoys chasing cats and has a hard time potty training so this gate saved our carpets and our cat's nerves. This is great because it allows the cats to get in and out as they please but keeps the dogs in place. The gate's entry and exit mechanism is very easy to use, so I would not recommend using it as a children's gate. It has a locking mechanism, but a small child can easily figure it out.

PROS: Pet Door! The only gate on the market that my cats can pass through unhindered. For those wondering, cats don't fit between the bars. It fits our staircase and I don't have to buy multiple pieces. Our ladder is 51 inches long, so we're on the smallest end of the scale. The pet door opens in both directions.
