Updated review - no retractable eyecups

I am updating my original review. I went back and ordered again and the new one came with twist off eyecups with multiple stoppers on both eyecups. The cases are advertised as "spectacle friendly - long eye relief and strong twist-off eyecups with multiple stops" but that's just one option. The eyecups are twisted with several stops. Send back and order again and hopefully the 2nd pair will have twist off eyecups with multiple stops on both eyecups.

Camera and photos are worth it

My wife and I are aspiring ornithologists and can't afford expensive binoculars. She has the same binoculars with standard glass. The image through the ED glass is much brighter. It's worth the investment if you're looking for a new level of image quality on a smaller budget. The eyecups are a bit fragile. One of my first binoculars broke, but the replacement binoculars were fine. Also, the strap is very thin. I bought the BlueCabi neoprene collar for $9.95. It is very comfortable.

Couldn't get better for the money

These binoculars are very clear in normal daylight and very good in low light, Ed glass in them is worth more for the price I paid which was $140 on sale than any bean for less than $100. I've only used them specifically for birding but the sharp detail in them is far superior to any older binoculars I've owned and I daresay they can compete with 200+ binoculars of the same spec although I really can't Compare because I haven't tested them. this. Vortex and the Nikon equivalent with Ed glass…

Great looks, poor workmanship

Packing such incredible looks into such an affordable package clearly required some compromises. Unfortunately, the poor design of the eyecups left us with a practically unusable pair of binoculars. It seems there is no locking screw without which the eyecup keeps turning up and down (and shutting off!). Based on my troubleshooting research, this seems to be a point of failure at times. I would probably recommend them to a friend anyway. I think I just got a pair of lemons. I'm looking around…

High-quality optics at an affordable price!

I bought these binoculars after reading comparative reviews of compact birdwatching binoculars in different price ranges on the Audubon Society website. They were in the top 5 of all budget binoculars tested, but were 50% cheaper than the next cheapest pair and half the price of the most expensive pair in this class. And the optics are amazing, with great colors and no noticeable vignetting. The only negative thing I found was the harness, which I replaced right after the first outing in…

Great binoculars competing with the competition at triple the price

Bought this set as a personal set for my wife and also because the original Nature DX was such great value for money. Compared to the Monarch 5, there really isn't much of a visual difference. The ED glass works quite well, the HA is well controlled and the clarity is excellent. Easy to use, with sufficiently adjustable interpupillary distance for people who wear glasses. The focus knob is smooth and only slightly hard to the touch. Really comfortable to hold, not as comfortable as I would have

Great ED binoculars at a bargain price!

I bought a pair of 10X50 ED binoculars. Bargain purchase of 50mm ED binoculars. The picture is sharp. Didn't see any false colors. Had a great time watching Comet Neowise do it. They are very well made and work as expected. The only drawback I would say is that the tube of the binoculars is too close together due to the design. This makes it impossible to mount them on a tripod, no matter how thin the adapter is. 10X is the upper limit of what I can hold in my hand, so it's not a big deal, but…

Love these binoculars

These binoculars work very well - powerful and lightweight. My biggest complaint is that you have to squeeze the two sides together as hard as possible to see through both eyepieces (four of us had this problem). I guess the people at Celestron have their eyes wide open!? As others have pointed out, they are difficult to hold still at this high magnification level, no big deal, but I ordered a monopod and a "Binocular Adapter Tripod". In this case, the large thumbscrew adapter will not work…

This is exactly how binoculars should be: bright, clear, comfortable.

I have been using Nikon Monarch (8x42) for hunting for several years and they have spoiled me. My eyes refuse to see through garbage lenses. When I wanted another set to enjoy birds in my garden I wanted something in 12x strength and I didn't want to break the bank. I tried a few inexpensive but highly rated models at Revain and found them to be what I would call "toys". When I found the Celestron 12x50 ED to be a lot cheaper than the similar Nikon I thought they might be worth a try. Celestron
