Dangerous! - Mobility and help in everyday life

Looks good, lasts a few days on the wall and then falls to the ground. When my husband was in rehab after his back surgery, he was specifically told NOT to use this type of suction handrail. The rehabilitation center treated several patients who fell into the shower because of this "bar". They relied on it and it broke down and they did. We ended up installing the metal, bolting on the handrails and they are great and looking good. Beware!

I bought it to help my 93.

I bought this to help my 93 year old mother when she gets out of the shower. It was attached to a clean, dry wall. After the first 2 days I noticed it spread a bit so I reapplied it. It feels very secure when attached. However, for some unknown reason, it just detached from the wall around 10pm one night. Both tabs attaching it to the wall were in the open position when it was on the floor. 5 hours ago it appeared to be securely fastened. Now I'm nervous about continuing to use it, but I'll see

Be careful with structured tile surfaces!

I tried this on two different souls. The first shower tile and a slightly textured surface reminiscent of fine sandpaper. Stuck for a few minutes. The second shower had a smoother finish and the grip is still working after 12 hours. Time will tell if I get it back or not. I find it very well made and sucks great. But you need a glass surface for that. The smoother the surface of the tile, the better it will hold up. I think they should consider including a small tube of gel to maintain suction…

Multiple sclerosis is really changing your lifestyle

After you've slipped in the shower a few times, it's time to seek help. My first thought with these suction cup products was if they would actually be able to hold my 185 pounds after I grabbed them as leverage to prevent further slips and falls. SHOCKED! Not only was I shocked by the grip strength of these suction cups, but also by the fact that they move easily, which is a huge plus. It took some adjustments to find the perfect spot for me, which would have been a mess with a permanent…

Very Satisfied - Bathroom Safety, Aids & Accessories

After recent falls, I checked consumer reports and then bought two handrails: this 11.5" handrail from Change Lifestyles and a 16" handrail from another Manufacturer. I first rubbed the tile with rubbing alcohol to remove any soap residue. The second rod fell off after a few days. This pole of change lifestyle stays in place and the contact stays strong and solid. So I bought a second pole which I placed on the outside edge of the shower to make getting in and out of the shower easier. As other

Good in the right context

I am an Occupational Therapist doing home care with geriatric patients. I'm constantly looking for specific adaptive devices to make my patients' bathrooms safer. Unfortunately, many people hesitate to give up aesthetics for safety! That means they don't put actual railings in their tiled showers as it would ruin their tiles. That's where this product comes in. I looked at several different brands before purchasing these for my patients. I've tried it on many different surfaces since then and…
