Cloyes 9 1157 Street True Roller Review

Perfect fit. The quality is ok for the price. Has only two external link arms on each link. The one I shot had four total. Two outside plus two in the middle. If I had known that, I would have spent more money on a higher quality piece.

I'm building a L31 Main Vortec Roller motor with 4 bolts. It's brand new but I wanted to upgrade my gears. When I received the set I thought it looked just like the GM set. Well I was wrong. There was no play in the Cloyes timing set compared to the new GM set I removed. I'm glad I updated.

Fits a ZZ4 block under a standard black plastic timing case. Top gear is the same GM part as the original that came with my fast burning engine. Seems like a good thing. If you just want a chain you can buy one separately and I'm sure it will fit GM original gears perfectly.

I'm glad I chose a well known brand when building my first engine. All details seem well made and fit together perfectly. The clearance between the cam and crank gears is closer than the stock version, but that's probably because they're slightly stronger than the stock version. The chain is qualitatively processed, everything works like clockwork. I chose chain to build the 350 Vortec Softcam. It doesn't require a double roller, and it's quieter and fits just like the original.

I liked the idea of having roller bushings on the pins rather than having the links run directly over the teeth. This benefit comes from the fact that there is only one structural plate on each side of the chain. I hope this is a good chain kit. For installation pains, be better. 4 stars because I can't be sure when I look at it. The teeth on the sprockets are slightly narrower than the original.
