Very tearful! in Parts

I wanted to like it SO. First it turned out that the gasket surrounding the filter box was missing. But once installed I don't see the purpose of the gasket as it doesn't touch (or seal) the engine area? The biggest problem I had was the noise in the truck's cabin. The intake noise sounded good, but the system produced a VERY annoying high thump at top rpm with any acceleration (at any speed). I thought it would be an easy fix, but after a little research it turned out that this is inherent to…

GREAT product.

fit and finish are missing. I would recommend checking the threaded holes prior to installation as they are not clean and the "chrome" is of poor quality. Attempting to screw in plastic adapters will result in cross threads and an unusable adapter. The bends are offset slightly so that when the Original Equipment engine cover is installed, the pipe touches. Rotating the intake manifold puts stress on the plastic adapters and MAF sensor wiring. Finally, there is an optional bolt/adapter assembly

  • beautiful thing

Increasing performance for pennies on the dollar.

Easy installation! Installing the kit took about 35 minutes. The instructions were clear enough. Just a minor issue with the ground wire attachment point, but it only took me a second to figure it out. Installing the filter was very easy. I had a pretty significant increase in torque, or at least a "feel" behind the wheel. I haven't tested my Tundra to know for sure, but I felt the difference very easily. My MPG went from about 12.5 to 14.5 in the city alone. Fuel consumption per gallon…

  • Satisfied so far

Makes her purr a lot prettier!

Love it! Installation took about an hour. The hardest part was gathering all the tools, unless you have a lot of "screwdriver" options. The filter comes with detailed diagram instructions and fits perfectly. After installation, I noticed that the engine began to purr much better. I haven't noticed the gas consuming effect yet because the product was just installed and I pushed the truck a little more than usual to hear the noise. So far this is a great purchase for the truck and I will…

  • Good product for the price
Cons

My truck sounds mean!

I decided to buy this air intake, I knew it wouldn't improve performance, mostly not. Sure, this reduces airflow restrictions, but it doesn't compress the air. It arrives in two days with a primer, it takes 15 minutes longer to fit the thermal protection and attachment points than it should have. As a suggestion to K&N, please pack the devices in the marked bags or boxes beforehand, for heaven's sake. Now for installing a heat shield. The instructions say to mount the screen in the factory…

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Exorbitant price

Too much assembly effort and TOO LOUD!

First off, K&N really needs to do something to make installation easier and easier. There are too many pieces in this puzzle. It takes too much time to assemble all the bolts, washers, spacers, nuts and everything else. Luckily the instructions are GREAT! You couldn't ask for a better guide. For an intake system that is equipped with a gasket that goes around the heat shield, it only seals at the fender. When you use your vehicle for farming, your filter gets messed up all the time. It doesn't…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Nothing

Would you like a homemade TRD CAI for half the price?

I think this product works best in combination with other mods. Let's say you want a stronger exhaust sound, let's say you have some kind of cut. Most of us choose TRD. But maybe you want more sound (from both the rear exhaust and the front engine) and the TRD CAI is too expensive at $400? In that case I think it's ideal. If you look at the TRD CAI you can see that it basically consists of a straight pipe from the stock airbox to the throttle body, an air cleaner, a less restrictive air intake…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
