Too hot and contacts wear out easily

I tried it. it gets too hot even after use. I found it became unreliable as the contacts got pointy and didn't make a good connection. I only had 40 amps of current, which is much lower than the calculated one. I've replaced it with a self-holding solenoid that doesn't draw current to maintain power. If you intend to use this device, please redesign your application to use a latching solenoid. it's much better and not difficult to do!

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Not suitable for 100% continuous operation

Before installation, connect the coil/actuator contacts to 12V (no load) for about an hour to check the coil strength and temperature. Within 30 minutes the magnet was very hot (almost melted wire), indicating high wear, poor quality and most importantly safety. A true 24/7 100% duty cycle unit can be warm but shouldn't get that hot. I bought a couple of these to look for a 24/7/100% duty cycle solenoid to charge auxiliary batteries when the ignition is on, but they don't work.

Pros
  • Handy part
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Golf carts for starters and alternators

For all golf cart enthusiasts. I don't normally write reviews, but when it is necessary to avoid an accident or damage, I do the right thing and write a review. I have a 2017 Yamaha G29/Drive Electric Golf Cart. I installed this solenoid in hopes of better performance. Pretty easy to install. After installation I did a test drive. The solenoid had a loud click when I stepped on the gas to turn it on, which my old one didn't do. J chases off my cart so that was a minus. I walked down the street…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Short term use and fire hazard

I bought this product because I needed a permanent magnet to allow two 12 volt batteries connected in parallel to charge the vehicle in a timely manner, but was able to make movements not turned on with the engine off so my engine battery doesn't lose charge due to two household batteries draining it without my knowledge. It took some time to install the system and get my Chevy van ready for the long haul. But even before I left town, I discovered the solenoid was getting hotter than I could…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
