Too small - didn't fit 1995 M3

This puller didn't fit the rear hubs of my 1995 BMW M3. Both the bolt pattern and hub puller center hole were too small. Luckily I was able to use the included threaded rod and a 4 pound sledgehammer to knock the axles out and finish the job.

A powerful tool that did the job!

I was skeptical about the tool but I need to get the rear axle out of the hub so I bought it. This tool is powerful! I had to heat up the axles and bang the tool with my punch for a while and the tool held up perfectly. Made the job possible. My only issue and why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that the holes weren't lined up exactly for my machine, I had to grind them down a bit because of the cast metal. Definitely not a deal breaker.

Not suitable for large BMW hubs as the seller says.

I confirm that this puller does not fit BMW X5 and Range Rover HSE (2003-2006 used BMW gearbox and suspension). I will drill the holes and increase the inside diameter to match the center of the hub. I hope the casting holds up but I'm not overly optimistic as you get what you pay for - I hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'll make a video showing how much torque it takes before it explodes. Stay tuned I'll update this when I do.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Do not use for X5 constant velocity joint does not match hole pattern

Does not fit BMW X5 hub on hole pattern. I had to drill holes to fit. In addition, the bolt has stripped the thread. My guess is that the screw is not made of grade 8 steel. Unfortunately, my return window had already expired when I started using this tool. I would not recommend this tool for use on the X5. It may fit some smaller BMWs, but don't buy it to replace CV joints on an X5.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Without automatic

Works great with E46 330Ci front and rear hubs.

Works great on BMW E46 front and rear hubs. Front Hubs - The hub and inner race have been removed, no 3 jaw puller is required to remove the inner race which would normally remain on the hub axle. The left and right sides were removed with the hub and entire inner ring removed. I expected the inner ring to stay on at least one side, but not in my case. Maybe I should have bought lottery tickets too. Rear Hubs - used to slide the rear axle through the hub (removing the axle) then the next step…

Worked surprisingly well.

Very good for removing rare BMW 323i 2000 (E46) axles with 5 x 120mm eyelets. I gave 4 stars because it didn't fit right out of the box. Due to the imperfection of the metal casting, some holes will need a little filing. Not a big problem, but you have to have the right file that will fit the holes and get the job done. The maximum diameter of the lugs is 120mm (4.72"), which will fit many BMWs (and possibly other vehicles). You can find this information for BMW by searching the internet for…
