Daddy Chef Grain Cutting Board Review

Chopping board. I was so excited before opening the box. However, this has two cracks in the area of the adhesive joint. These are not the usual cracks that many wood products have, but man-made problems that have occurred during gluing, pressing and drying. I am very disappointed and will not trust this company as this issue is indeed an important issue for wood joining process and related products.

Bought this cutting board because of the size, handles and non-slip feet. It was great right away and I felt quite complacent about my excellent choice. However, once I washed off the smooth, shiny wax, it was a mess. The wood felt very rough and contained fibers from my kitchen towel or paper towel. This cutting board is well made and very attractive. I like its size. Some reviewers noted that the surface became slightly rough after the first two uses. This is fairly typical of a finish board that has been dry sanded (or finished) after seeing the water for the first time. This happened to my board. You can fix this by sanding the surface of the plate again and re-oiling. (I started with 150 grit sandpaper, worked up to 400 grit and oiled with edible tung oil). Or you can just leave the…

Daddy Chef 16 x 12 end grain cutting deck is perfect for quickly slicing onions, peppers or tomatoes. Doesn't take up too much counter space and the finish has the professional look I was looking for. Another feature I definitely like is the short, heavy plastic legs that keep the deck from sliding around on the tabletop. Nice and strong cutting board but the surface is rough. At the first wetting, he tore off pieces of the paper towel. I contacted the manufacturer and they said it was "normal". I love this cutting board, it's so pretty and still looks great even though it's been bleach cleaned! None of my other cutting boards have done this. It also doesn't get soft in the middle (rotting wood I guess?) due to water soaked wood. It is so beautiful! Simply put, excellent product. No complaints about that. It does what it's made for and does it well while looking great. I've had it for over six months now and it still looks great. There are no knife cuts as with edge banding boards. I cut fast like TV chefs. It's slightly sticky until more use, when the blade digs into the board and is held in place by the fibers.
