Works great to start with

Original review: Starter motor for the '95 Chevy Suburban 6.5 liter diesel engine. 2 months after installation it works great. Seems to fit perfectly. Update 01/02/2021: 2 years later still perfect.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Available in black only

Chevrolet 93 6.5 diesel repair.

All good, I just had an issue with a screw coming loose in the bell, really fun times. And if one of those bolts is missing it's going to be a cat stink to start, but I guess it's free to get off a friend's truck lol!

Pros
  • Shipping was very fast

Ignite - Starters and Alternators

I'll tell you the starter works just as well as diesel engines should chew 10 starters This starter turns the engine faster than any other starter I've put on this truck I'm an AC Delco man or cold air I'm not sure who makes this starter but so far it works fine

Works great but the ground jumper has melted

Works well but the ground jumper has almost melted. I noticed this when installing my second starter. The first one wore out because I accidentally used spacers. If you have a 6.2 liter GMC diesel, make sure you don't have any gaskets! The starter is nice and smooth now and hasn't rattled since I replaced it with a new one and removed the gaskets.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Legacy Model

Great starter for 6.5 Detroit

very good, truck starts great. the motor rotates much faster than the old worn one, the amperage has also decreased. They even send a test sheet with the starter how it passed the tests. Great quality, much cheaper than auto parts stores who want over 200 for their own branded starter. THINK THE FRONT MOUNTING BRACKET ON THE 6.5 MODEL! YOU WILL BREAK YOUR BLOCK IF YOU DON'T INSERT IT!

You get what you pay for...

At first I didn't read all the bad reviews (1-2 stars) and only saw that more than 100 people gave 4-5 stars and ordered this product. Lesson learned. The heights must be from people who left feedback immediately after installing and starting the truck. Not after any period of use. Now I'm happy that mine actually lasted a full year after reading about the days and months of failure. If you don't just want to hear a horrible "click" when you turn the key out of the blue one day, you have bought

Fits Chevy 6.5L Diesel

I had a problem with my starter motor intermittently engaging. I mean I turned the key and heard a click but the starter motor didn't engage or even turn the flywheel. Sometimes it starts with the first turn of the key, and sometimes it takes 3, 4, or 5 turns of the key. I ended up not being able to get the starter to work at all no matter how many times I turned the key. I had converted and installed another one in the garage but I still had the same problem. I decided to order this one since…

Cons

Starter works great. the warranty is practically useless

First of all the starter itself was perfect. It comes with a test sheet showing all functions during dyno testing. I love that the company operates here in the US and not in a mass recovery of units from China or Mexico. no problem installing and it works like new. The disadvantage of ordering a starter from abroad is the warranty service. For a $97 starter, I'm not too concerned about that. The chances that you need a 1 year warranty are pretty slim. Even cheap ones usually last 12 months…
