Works as advertised

I've used a couple of adjustable thermostat switches that die in a year or two. Always off the beaten track! I switched to this style which is off/on. I hope the fragile electronics don't fail. Turns on at about 190 and stops at 180 which I believe is the result of a temperature difference where it's only sticking through the heatsink and not making direct contact with the liquid. Update: Recently returned from the Hot Rod Power Tour and this fan switch/relay worked with no problems. The…

You risk overheating.

Stay away from this item, I bought it for my derale fan and it didn't even turn on when it should have turned on. I thought it was the wiring, make sure everything is connected properly. So I thought I had a faulty unit, they sent me a replacement from Revain (great customer service) and I tested the second unit in boiling water, it was supposed to turn on at 180, the water was at 200 and it still didn't work, talked to the guy in the auto zone about the temp sensors, he said the ones that come

Better than the Flex-a-lite fan controller

First, you'll need a few feet (2-5) of 14-18 gauge red and yellow wire to attach the thermostat to the heatsink. I would say that this advice would apply to everyone. I bought this to replace the adjustable fan control module on my Flex-a-lite fan in a 2000 Jeep Wrangler (TJ). The module is great. It settled down quickly and could survive off-road through streams, mud pits, and for long periods with the fan module on (about an hour at a time). The fact that I can now have a small redundant…

I would not buy this again! Does not work properly with aluminum heatsinks.

1956 Ford Fairlane with 312cc engine. Due to a gap issue in the original steel fan and the new aluminum heatsink, I bought a Spal 16 inch low profile fan 30100400 and a 16738 Derale 180 degree controller. The Derale controller only switched on the fan at over 220 degrees. The sensor and the fan worked great. Left idle for more than 30 minutes, and the temperature stayed between 170 and 175 degrees. Please note that it is not compatible with aluminum radiators. Don't expect much help from…

Thermostat works

This is my second set. I originally bought the set from another company and the thermostat didn't work and the other company wanted me to return the item. It has already been installed. WHICH TYPE! I protested that this was not an option and that you would please just send me a thermostat or other kit and I will send it back. Then I got a full refund. I bought this second set and the thermostat didn't work again. I had to hardwire the fan controller and bypass the thermostat. I saved the kit…

It works best in engine cooling and air conditioning.

I had some doubts about this product due to some negative reviews I read. I have followed the instructions. Had taken the time to double check everything and everything works as it should. In addition to the battery, I ran a hot wire from the back of the car's fuse box (Radio One) and installed a 3 amp fuse to the thermostat in the radiator. I found a 10 blade fan on ebay for $30 and it works great. (performance by Barnett). When the engine is off and the key is turned to the accessory, the fan

Very bad quality, I would not buy again!

I first bought one of these from another supplier. When I connected the relay, there are two pins plugged into the relay housing. He couldn't be saved. Since I already used the harness, I ordered an extra one from Revain to get a replacement relay. I glued the contacts onto the relay so they don't stick this time. So far, so good. A year later the fans stopped working, I hooked this up to a faulty fuse holder in the wiring harness, it blew and rusted. To save some money I wanted to use the fuse

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Empty

The supplied fuse has blown. yes, cooked

At first the goods fit me. The switch takes up little space and is easy to install in different places to adjust the activation temperature. I ended up installing it on the engine in the hot coolant outlet housing because 180C is pretty high for the radiator temp, let alone the engine temp. Remember that for efficient operation, the temperature of the radiator must be well below the set engine temperature. 3 months after installation, the fan did not turn on. It turned out that the built-in 30…
