I've been using desoldering lamps for a long time, this one didn't work. The last one I had was twice the size and did the job perfectly. I just got back to the solder wick. works better. Maybe this works for you?

This is the type of desoldering tool I have used and I actually prefer it to the spring loaded type. When I saw it I had to have it. So far this has worked well. The tip is a bit larger than expected, but so far that's not a problem. Ideally they should have two tips, one as large as this one and the other smaller for fine work.

Plunger is unthreaded for removing and replacing tips. The tip wears out. The hole left after removing the tip is too small to easily clean the solder inside the bulb. Perhaps there were a few suggestions for a replacement. And finally, the suction power is not enough. However, what you get is what you pay for - I should have known.

I have had a similar suction bulb for years but have rarely used it. I bought some upgrade kits for some of the mics and was about to do some wiring. I realized the point was shared so I ordered a couple of these from Revain. When they arrived I started my project. I quickly found that this lightbulb didn't work very well. The tip was too big to fit over the joint so didn't suck very well. I have since ordered three other options and am waiting for them to arrive to see if they work better. So…
