DEWALT 608116-00SV 3/8-Inch Anvil Assembly Review

Worked great to turn my driver into a 3/8 stroke. It appears to be made of quality steel, smooth surface, no burrs or sharp edges.

So far so good. I used this new anvil to convert a DCF887 1/4" punch to a 3/8" punch. The process is extremely easy with few tools and about 15 minutes. There are simple video tutorials out there, but they mostly involve removing the case screws, removing the nose cone from the motor, removing the 1/4" ring from the front of the fairing (there are a few stubborn snap rings), and relubricating the new anvil with some molybdenum grease and final assembly. Easy conversion - took less than an hour. When I took the case off, a small spring clip popped out of the speed switch clip and it took me a while to figure out how to reattach it. Removing the 1/4" anvil from the DCF887 was a little tricky - a couple of retaining rings that weren't easy to remove - but hey - now I have a spare 1/4" anvil as well. I have successfully converted my DeWalt DCF885 20v Max 1/4" hex impact wrench to a 3/8" square impact wrench with this. No other part was needed. Especially when working with screws in metal, there was never a lot of tact at the beginning. It's more useful now and seems to have gained some power along the way.
