Great sound card for the price

I've been updating my Dell XPS 400 for a while and finally the moment came when I needed a new sound card. I was looking for Revain and came across this. The price was right, it gave me what I was looking for; Upgrading an old sound card to the latest technology, giving me additional audio options (like Stereo Mix) that my old card didn't have. I was initially hesitant to purchase after reading a number of reviews about installing on Windows 7. I'm fairly tech savvy and figured you'd have to be

Attention Windows 7 owners.

Everyone else was talking about what great sound (it really is), terrible Diamond support, etc. Now let's talk about whether it's compatible with Windows 7 can be used. There will be no drivers on the disk in the box. The Diamond site does not have a Windows 7 driver, either 32-bit or 64-bit. However, the chipset on the board is CMEDIA 8768 and drivers can be found at [.] and regular driver websites. They are shown as either RC or Beta, but they work fine here. It's a shame that such a great…

I'm not sure if it was important. But sounds good

I had pretty good onboard audio with my Asus board, but after taking the system apart to turn it into a multimedia computer and selling some parts, I left I take the computer with me. 3 sticks with 512 MB and 1 stick with 256 MB. It couldn't play DTS audio in Media Player Classic and when the audio didn't work smoothly in VLC we assumed it was the RAM but found out a $7 sound card (according to MIR). walk. Computer still won't play DTS in MPC or video in VLC, well. The sound quality is the same

Inexpensive solution

First of all many thanks to RL Frank for his insightful and extremely helpful review. Without his/her information about the required driver for Windows 7 I would have given up on this board. The board arrived quickly (as usual with Revain) and is physically easy to install. Diamond's included information is almost useless, but if you're installing your own system cards and tweaking your BIOS settings, I have to believe you really don't have to do much hand-holding. As others have said, there…

  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

I received this card for a client computer I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 (see specs below) and integrated sound cards. The driver built into the HP Compaq DC 7700 does not support drivers for Windows 7. Having owned a few of these cards I knew what I was getting into when I got the card, although physically installing the card is easy enough to get a driver for Installing Windows Vista and 7 is not as simple as plug and play. However, once installed, it works like a champ. Thanks

Great card, does what it promises.

People complaining about the lack of compatibility with Windows 7 should look at the reviews and find one of the published guides to help you install and run it correctly. I personally didn't buy it for the 7.1 capabilities, but to expand for two other audio devices (2 small 2-pin connectors on the top of the card) and to expand my computer's recording capabilities to what I was hoping for. less lag. Luckily I got what I was looking for, the latency has been reduced and I can now plug in 3…

Versatile and economical

The main reason I bought this card was to replace the Auzentech X-Fi 7.1 sound card on one of my PCs where I dual boot Win XP 32 and 64 bit. It was a sad day that I had to replace my Auzentech card because it was the best sound card I have ever had. Unfortunately, despite Auzentech's amazing sound quality, I encounter compatibility issues with newer games, namely games released from 2008 onwards. As I'm much more a gamer than an audiophile, as much as I missed that, the card had to be replaced.
