Disappointing Magnetic Drain Plug

After trying this automotive magnetic drain plug, I must say I am very disappointed. Although it was easy to install, it did not perform as advertised, hardly collecting any debris. The only pro is that it is affordable compared to other options. The cons are that it simply does not work as it should, leaving me questioning the quality of other Dorman Autograde products. Definitely not worth the investment.

Pros
  • Strong magnetic strength for secure fastening of metal objects.
Cons
  • May lose its magnetic strength over time.

not a good replacement

Does not use the same rubber seal as the original and the rubber seal should be replaced at every oil change. In addition, a magnet is glued in, which can come out when heated and fall into the oil pan. With most oil pans now made of cast aluminum, where will the magnet go next?

Pros
  • Quality Tested - This part has been trial tested to ensure seal quality
Cons
  • So far so good

Oil drain plug for 99 GMC Suburban

is completely closed. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the threads had snapped near the head. Since there was no rush (we do other stuff) we ordered a new one from Revain. It took a few days to arrive and it fit perfectly. We have a 1999 GMC Suburban K1500 and it fits perfectly. It even has a rubber seal on the shaft (near the head) for a tighter fit.

Pros
  • Perfect replacement - this engine oil drain plug corresponds in size and function to the original
Cons
  • newer model could have been selected
