second thought! best in spare parts

It's ok but I would be afraid to use it on a car's transmission sump, it can come loose depending on how often your oil is heated or cooled , another thing If I used it I would put copper washers on it instead of plastic washers, much better chance they will stay tight and not leak, also I would lubricate the threads with 272 Loctite. It's better not to use it once, I'm very worried about leakage. Thank you for reading. Have a nice day.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • poorly thought out

It works out. in engine parts

I installed this on a Th 350 transmission pan. The small drain plug is sealed with a small thin o-ring. Do yourself a favor and buy a small rubber washer instead of using an O-ring. Large plastic washers work well, just tighten them down but not over tighten and don't deform them too much and you'll be fine. For me it's worth the drain plug, however I mostly upgrade most things I buy these days as so much is sold just to make money and doesn't really care much about the real quality.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Not sure

Great concept, buy new washers to get it right.

This is the main method of installing a drain plug on the transmission pan. But there are a few things you should do/change. It comes with two nylon/plastic washers. When I used them I had a leak. After using the new drain to drain the oil pan, I removed the oil pan, transmission drain kit and replaced the washers with brass washers. I'm sure another soft aluminum disc would be fine as well. What I wanted to do was be able to tighten the nut firmly and force the soft metal to create a sealโ€ฆ

  • Cool product

  • Big and bulky

Don't buy this if you want to keep gear oil.

The biggest problem with this drain is that it had to be designed with a tapered pipe thread for the plug to seal properly when tightened. Instead, the small connector is straight-threaded and relies on a fragile little rubber O-ring for sealing. As soon as you turn the cork with the slightest effort, the O-ring is simply pushed out to the side. It looked so patchy that I couldn't bear the thought of putting the pot back in until I fixed the problem. I ended up drilling and tapping into theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small house

Great with a few extras

I read all the reviews before buying but I was sure I could handle it. Fantastic for the price! Simply discard the 2 plastic washers and rubber o-ring on the drain plug. Just go to Ace Hardware and grab 2 copper washers that fit the outer screw and some thread tape. One copper washer inside, one outside, then we put the tape on the drain plug itself. No leaks! It's even better if you put some red threadlocker on the screw in the gearbox and some blue on the drain plug before tightening. Iโ€ฆ
