Disappointing Best in Engine Parts

This came used, broken. Not only was the tensioner open and the spring exposed, but the adjustment knob welded on to release the tension was broken in half. Dorman didn't offer a solution, Revane deleted my backlink 5 days before I opened it to find what was waiting for me.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • boring packaging

Excellent quality replacement

This part was used for Gen 1 (2006) Scion tC 2.4L 4 cylinder. Easier installation by raising the motor instead of lowering it. Do not buy cheaper unbranded versions of this part. It's designed to be pulled tight enough to install the drive belt, but don't go past the limit.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Low repairability

Belt sagging due to a weak rotary damper bushing.

Swivel bush not stiff enough. It allows for too much lateral movement. Even during installation, the belt could no longer withstand the tension. I had to put the factory. I didn't install it until I had it for a month because of the amount of repairs I was doing. No, I can't return it because I missed the return deadline. upset.

Good fit but find out more

Arrived on time and as advertised. Installation on a 2006 Toyota Camry was easy and not too difficult. The right hand engine mount must be removed and the engine lifted until the top mounting bolt is extended far enough to remove the idler pulley. Conversely, during installation, make sure that the bolt is in the guide roller before installation. Search the forums for valuable information.

Good replacement OEM

Beautifully finished part. Looks sturdier than the broken OEM. I had to remove the nut on the right motor mount and lift the motor about 1/4 inch to get the top bolt in. Once the engine was lifted, it just locked into place. Use a 19mm hex socket and a 1/2 breaker to loosen the tensioner. Then I managed to put on a new V-ribbed belt. It worked great. Would recommend this part over OEM and for about half the cost.

  • Impressive

  • Hard to say

2005 Camry in Timing Parts

Camry LX 2005 2.4L engine. The space between the engine and frame on the right side is very tight and the tensioner is very difficult to maneuver even after it is unscrewed. I did it that way. Jack up the right side of the vehicle and install the safety stand. Remove the front passenger wheel. Remove V-ribbed belt. Remove the top screw on the front motor mount (at the back of the radiator, slightly to the left of center). Place a jack with a flat piece of wood under the right passenger side of…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine
