A solution that survives the car.

The real answer to the problem is a certificate of the time, but it's hard to justify $150 for a tool I'll one day use on a 220,000-mile 2007 Honda Civic. I chose this set and was not disappointed. A huge thank you to everyone who recommended chip control lubricants. I dipped my tap in red grease and was amazed at the amount of chips stuck to the tool. I flushed with a quart of fresh oil to get rid of the remaining shavings, put in a really good filter until the next change and there you go.

Instructions for conducting the ceremony

Great solution for easy installation. Make sure you drain the pan well. Then use a round washer to snip off any remaining threads but not too much, you just have to do this step to secure the taps and go straight in. Also, heat the drain plug area with a propane torch to soften the aluminum and make it a little easier to tap. After a few turns of the tap, stop and apply lubricant to the flutes of the tap to catch the chips. When you're done, vacuum to collect the shavings, turn the plug upsideโ€ฆ

  • The list will be long.

Great for engines and engine parts

My brother-in-law, a motorcycle mechanic, recommended the Time Sert kit, but I didn't see the point of spending $140 for it. This kit worked great. It cut a nice clean thread 1 size down and the supplied screws screwed right in. Be sure to flush the motor well and use a fine pipe cleaner to remove any remaining metal shavings that have settled around the new hole. I used those fluffy flexible wires that kids use for art projects. To be extra careful with leaks I used teflon tape on the screw. I

Works great on a Honda Odyssey

I have used this on a 2007 Honda Odyssey with no problems. On my last oil change I found that the drain plug was no longer holding torque and upon further investigation found that the hole was unthreaded. This tool comes with 6 drain plugs, so plan on using your neighbors and friends' drain plugs as well. The faucet is made of hardened steel and the 11mm head is perfect for the square adapter. On the Odyssey I had no clearance issues at all. Just align and rotate. This tool was surprisinglyโ€ฆ

The best lifesaver among spare parts

This kit has become a lifesaver. I tore off the oil drain hole on my friend's 2003 Civic while changing the oil. I don't know how, I didn't even tighten the screw when it went. It doesn't help that the oil drain thread is aluminum and the drain plug is steel. I was looking for a 15mm tap but couldn't find it. Then I found this set at Revain and it was just what I needed. Threading and installing a new connector took just a few minutes. I did my best to get the aluminum shavings out of the drain

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Almost everything is in order
