Description of Enhanced Performance with Drill America Cobalt Economy Degrees: Unleash Your Drilling Capabilities

Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. Gold oxide is a thinner oxide surface treatment than black oxide typically used to identify cobalt steel tools; performance is similar to uncoated tools. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. Ideal for drilling in tough, high tensile strength materials.

They work well with twist drill bits

If I had read the description more carefully I would not have bought them. I thought I would buy a drill but the price was for twelve. It would be a red flag. These bits were very cheap for the price. I bought a bit to drill through 2mm thick stainless steel. I have other bits that bite and cut well. These bits hardly leave any marks on the surface. I do not recommend these bits for metal drilling. Maybe aluminum.

Pros
  • Bullet shanks allow for use with a variety of tool holder systems
Cons
  • Available in black only

Not very sharp - drill bit

Ordered 1/32" drill bit for my partner who is a novice jeweler. You should substitute a Dremel brand drill bit of the same diameter. even silver is not very good. I thought I'd buy something cheaper while she was learning the instrument, but these seem cheap in the wrong sense of the word, not just cheap. I just replaced them for about $3. /ea cobalt bits are from McMaster and they are great. They cut silver like butter. So you get what you pay for.

Pros
  • Ideal for drilling hard, high tensile materials
Cons
  • Not sure

Good beats! fits jobber drills

could have been chosen - these Drill America 1/32" cobalt steel drill bits go through spring hardened 18 gauge stainless steel pretty quickly. So they go through my thinner strip of steel just fine. And they go through hardwood easily - I've broken a few but that's because I've either been trying to push them to the limit or because my hands aren't always that hard, considering how small they are, they indeed are surprisingly strong I found this one thing that helps keep them from breaking is…

Pros
  • Gold Oxide is a finer oxide surface treatment than the black oxide commonly used to identify cobalt steel tools; Same performance as uncoated
Cons
  • . The newer model
