Useless! The plastic grip on the handle goes up so high that the jaw lock cannot be released. Jaws literally cannot open. I'm not going to cut the plastic off the handle just to be able to use the tool. And I won't drill out the locking bar, because then I have a tool that keeps opening and doesn't stay in my pocket. Returned.

Disappointing. on power and hand tools

I got them because they need to strip 30 gauge wire. I have a couple of Craftsman strippers that can shoot 20-30 gauge wire. I took them as a backup. I tried them on a 30 gauge wire wrap (American wire with thin insulation about 20 years ago). The Craftsman tool removes it easily. They slip through the insulation. :-(I have other Pro'skit tools that I bought in Taiwan. These are a little disappointing.

Good, but a design flaw

These pullers aren't bad. One problem is that the locking lever is held in the locked/closed position by a plastic handle. It's possible to quickly cut the plastic handle with a utility knife, but with the right design it's not necessary. Other than that, it's a good tool. It's similar (though not as high quality) to what was sold in radio stores when they existed.

Great tool for stripping thin wires

Most wire strippers with discrete holes are designed for much larger gauge wire. This is one of the few I've seen going down to 30 ga. Also suitable for some "connected wire" sensors. I got it as a supplement, I bought a second one. Only thing is the handle interfered with the locking lever on the second pair so I had to cut it with a office knife. Finally trying to break the habit of stripping wires with little Xcelite imitations and moving on to something less lame.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • The list will go on.

Great Value Wire Strippers

These are my go-to wire cutters and wire strippers as they are reasonably priced and provide stable performance over time. By default they are too sharp for precise applications and tend to accidentally cut the wire. After hacking, they are good at removing the outer part of CAT5 and twisted pairs. The torches excel at cutting single core copper wire from day one. The castle never failed. You are able to cut screws, but this will damage the cutter. In my experience they last about 3-5 months…

Works well but has a few issues

I've been using these for a few days on a home wiring project using 14/2 gauge wire. The biggest problem I encountered is the locking mechanism. I have pretty big hands and I keep squeezing the latch when I'm stripping wires. This prompted me to cut and hammer the wire. An accidental scratch resulted in part of the wire breaking when I twisted the two wires together. I also see marks on the cutting edge which makes me question the durability of the torch. They might work for very thin wires…

Despite a few complaints, I like the design of the lock.

I've read some complaints about the design of the lock but I found it much better than the more common type used in similar tools. Silver locks drove me crazy being in the way or accidentally locked/unlocked. I understand some may have grip failure issues if improperly shaped, but mine was fine. They stripped the wires I've tried without notches, but sometimes I've found that a notch smaller than the wire size works better. This is a trial and error method as a solid wire this size will break…

High quality and works for my needs.

I've been using these for a few days and they seem to be very good quality for the price! What I like so far: - I have a small table in the office where I have been soldering wires to circuit boards. I don't do a lot of electrical work and I just needed something to rarely strip wires. This seems to work great in all the applications I've used it in. They fit perfectly and fit my desk. Nothing big or bulky. They have a lock for security reasons! The only thing I didn't like was that some of the

Good Wire Strippers for 30 AWG Wire-Wrap PVC Wire

These wire strippers have rounded flutes that do a good job of cutting soft versions (PVC) of insulated wrapped wire; This happens to be the cheapest wire and half the price of the Kynar insulated versions. Other wire strippers have V-grooves and don't work well with smaller diameter wires compared to round holes. I really need to get close to the 30 AG hole so I cut off the nose with pliers. So the 30 AWG groove is right on the nose and now you can get into tight spots: like making jumpers on…
