Good until it's gone

I followed T.'s instructions. I couldn't tighten the connector any further because the epoxy had set. Also, as the epoxy hardened on the connector, it became unusable. I contacted Ecoplug in good faith and offered to return the old plug if they send me a new one to test. They didn't help at all. Told me to buy another plug and try again. I don't know how much it costs to put out one of these stubs, but it may not be worth the loss of a loyal customer and bad reviews.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Measure your oil pan hole

If your oil pan is 14mm I bought it for a new oil plug but the hole is getting bigger so I went with a 14mm x 18mm ECO plug . The problem with the 14mm to 18mm when I put it in it sticks out almost 15mm from the tip and the rest sticks out so I decided to change the 12mm to 16mm. So my diameter is almost 15mm which I used and then trimmed the rest of the ECO plug tip to almost 14mm so the tip of your new ECO plug is close to the bottom of the oil pan so you get the most oil when draining. oldโ€ฆ

Very easy to install and will stop a leak 9)

Okay let's get these 3 things out of the way: 1) DO NOT overtighten the Eco Plug or you will get a cracked oil pan. 2) After refinishing the oil pan (with eco plug), clean the bolt and bolt hole properly for best results. (use brake cleaner to remove residual oil) 3) I'm just "do it yourself". Follow the instructions in the user manual (or look it up on Google). Okay, now for the review: when the eco plug arrived, the epoxy that came with it was already rock solid. If your epoxy arrived in theโ€ฆ

Started leaking after 3 oil changes

Purchased this item about 10 months ago. I've done 2 oil changes since then. Changed the oil for the third time the other day and now it runs like crazy. There is a thin piece of rubber on the inside of the magnet that is designed to act as a seal to prevent leakage. Well, apparently plastic only lasts that long in the presence of oil. It detached from the magnet and broke so badly that it started leaking everywhere. I went to the website, found the company's email address and told them whatโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Keep Calm

This product has completely fixed a leak caused by a broken oil plug. It works as described. I'm a little skeptical that my oil will be held by a magnet, but I decided to give it a try. Installed a week ago and no problems so far. I will say that. My drain plug was 12 x 1.5mm and it was quite difficult to get the eco plugs in. I ended up finding a faucet with thinner threads (closer to the eco cork) and ran it a bit to help get started. However, it took a lot of effort to get the ecoplug toโ€ฆ

PERFECT! - Engines and Engine Parts

Wish I had used this from the start rather than drilling and tapping the oil pan (still slowly dripping upon completion). This fixed my leaky plug in no time and also didn't create any aluminum shavings to clean. The included epoxy putty needs to be kneaded for a few minutes before use, it has no direction, so it's easy to understand why some people say it crumbles. - because it will happen if you don't mix it properly first. I used JB Weld instead - the regular type is rated for 500 degreesโ€ฆ

A good connector needs the best epoxy in the kit

The automotive center of a large supermarket chain removed a screw in My Pan on my Ford Explorer. The next time I entered they refused to touch it and said the boat was stripped. I tried to explain to them that they only changed the oil and refused service. So I went back to my house and changed the oil again and the plug seems to be holding. The next time I wanted to do it myself I reinstalled the plug and this time removed it completely. In search of a solution I came across this Eco forkโ€ฆ

Before replacing the drain pan, pay attention to the leaking drain plug!

I had my doubts about this product but got a lot of good reviews. There was a slow drip from the cork in my wife's car. This is most likely because the techs overtightened the fork or used the wrong one. Dude, that pissed me off. I broke down and wanted to replace the entire oil pan for $120 plus my time and a spare gasket the next time I need an oil change. I was watching drain plug leak videos online and someone mentioned this product in the comments and then several others vouched for it. Iโ€ฆ
