Difficult battery connection

My 2001 7.3L PowerStroke has 213,000 miles with the stock starter. took this device because of the larger engine, but it turned out to be a mistake. The starter went right in, but the battery cable had to be routed around the larger starter and was 1/2 inch shorter. It took me over an hour to figure out a way to get it working. I ended up twisting the battery cable with pliers. No room for a socket on the top (hidden) mounting screw, used a wrench. Magnet nuts are a different size than the…

Worked fine for a while. then

I started this for about 4-5 months and it worked great until winter came. I had to put a new starter motor on my 1995 Ford F-250 XLT 7.3L because it burned out. All summer it worked without problems, and in winter the starter refused. I finally bought a new one from Ford and have had no problems since. I would recommend this product to people looking for a starter in a warm area or just using their truck as a farm wagon or something around town. But definitely not for an everyday driver like…

I love this starter

I love this starter. I always had to wait for the 'Wait to start engine' light to go off before I could start the engine. And even then, it almost always took two to four cranks to get it going. Now with this starter, I just put the key in the ignition and fire it up like a carburetor. It ignites within two seconds. I don't know how long this starter will last me, but so far I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Update: It's been almost four months since I installed this starter motor on my 7.3…

Fits 99 F-350 7.3 Diesel and works great.

I have a 1999 Ford F-350 that I bought with 270,000 miles on it. Shortly after purchase it becomes a bit difficult to start if I leave it for 2 days. I had to change the brakes and it took a few days. When I tried to start my truck, all I heard was a "click" and the battery light on the dash stayed on. After some YouTube, I realized that this was my starter and that I could fix it myself. I bought this starter which had good reviews and Amazon said it would fit my truck. It couldn't have gone…

F-350 Starter 7.3L - Starters & Alternators

UPDATE: This starter didn't last a year with light use before the starter solenoid blew out. The company sent a replacement, but it cost me $21 to ship the defective unit back. Not as good as I thought. My F-350 has always been very difficult to start since it was new. All the Ford dealers told me it's because the 7.3 liter diesel is a big engine and they all don't start well so they have 2 big batteries. Immediately after the warranty expired I went for an oil change and they decided to let me

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Fits straight onto my 1997 F-250HD. After a few weeks of intermittent starting problems I decided on a starter motor. This particular one was offered at the best price I could find online or at my local parts store. Installation was very easy (I lived in Texas at the time so there was no rust!) 30 minutes. When I wanted to start the truck, the difference in engine speed was incredible. In all the years I've owned the truck, it has never started as quickly as it did with this starter. I think…
