Wrong part in the oil

Bought because search found it was right. So does the Revain vitality testing program. Not suitable. After removing the old oil pan, I found that Subaru uses fluid and even if I wanted to use it, it doesn't fit my 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Almost OK

DON'T SPEND MONEY ON A SUBARU.

I rate it this way because it is not required for Subaru but fits as part of Subaru. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR SUBARU! Subaru uses Fuji Industries silicone which seals much better. I REPEAT, DO NOT GET THIS FOR SUBARU. IF YOUR MECHANIC TELLS YOU YOU NEED IT, GET A NEW MECHANIC!

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Not for 2010 Outback

Revain showed this to be the correct oil pan gasket on my 2010 Subaru Outback. Not nearly! Subaru's oil pan uses silicone, not a gasket, and has a different shape than this gasket. The oil pan is bolted to the stub body which is bolted to the engine block and this gasket is for that connection (I think).

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Minor problems

Not suitable for 2nd generation 2.5L as described.

Felpro seals are generally of good quality. This gasket is listed as suitable for a 2006 Impreza 2.5. This is NOT an Impreza of my generation. Subaru only uses silicone sealant. I was hoping to use this in addition to sealant. As this is a rally car the part sat for a while before I realized it didn't fit. Can't go back Not the biggest problem, but if you need to remove or replace the oil pan, buy the right sealant.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Working speed

Not what you need for Subaru

Subaru oil pans should be sealed with "Fuji Bond" or equivalent ("3M 08672 Ultrapro Black High Temp Silicone" recommended by Subaru). I didn't know this until I missed the return window on this flimsy seal that was doomed to fail. And FYI I also found that Subaru oil pans almost never seem to leak, it's almost always the oil separator plate (very common) or rear crank seal (rare) that is leaking down and onto the oil pan. And to get to them you need to remove the engine or gearbox. Make sure…

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • sad packaging

Excellent fit and excellent sealing quality.

Excellent fitting accuracy and excellent sealing quality. I found a leak in my dad's Subaru Forester and instead of having the dealer charge him hundreds of dollars, I bought this gasket and did the job myself. You have to loosen the front engine mounts and unhook a lever on the back of the engine, to raise the engine a few inches to gain access to the rear bolts. You will also need to unscrew the dipstick and remove the dipstick tube. I removed the oil pan and only found a silicone seal there.

Pros
  • The special thing about this
Cons
  • socket required

I bought this item about a year ago. I ran into a small problem that is easy to fix (because my screws were already rusty and it was starting to round). Bolts OEM are M6 1.0 and 12mm. As this increases the thickness, consider replacing the screws with M6 1.0 14mm. In fact, I just rebuilt the motor and used an Ultra Gray gasket maker. (Which is recommended if Fuji isn't available.) However, when the motor was still running, it really helped. The only leaks were the rear main oil seal (leaked)…

Pros
  • Quality finish
Cons
  • Can I add something?

Great gasket for my 2000 Subaru Outback.

I installed this on my 2000 Subaru Outback when the engine was removed to replace the head gasket. The oil pan did not have a seal from the factory, but was simply glued and screwed. At the recommendation of my local mechanic, I installed it with a light coat of Permatex Ultra Gray on both sides (this helped hold it in place as I bolted the pan on and provides a little extra sealing ability). Installation was easy and the spongy nature of the plug compensated for minor mismatches in the oil…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
