Description of Fiskars 375581-1001 Chopping Axe: 28-Inch Black, Premium Quality

Ideal for felling trees. Chops deeper with each swing to get more done faster. Perfected balance and power-to-weight ratio increases swing speed to multiply power, much like an aluminum baseball bat. Proprietary blade-grinding technique provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts. Hardened forged steel blade stays sharp longer than traditional axes. Low-friction blade coating powers through wood and prevents head from getting stuck. Lifetime warranty.

Great ax for the price

Love this axe, the light handle makes it (barely) portable in a backpack for late nights and bushcraft. The head retained a major advantage, felling a few standing dead trees and splitting larger trunks. I have a Husqvarna 26" utility ax that attaches easier to my pack and weighs less than a Husqvarna while still working just as well. index as soon as possible.

Terrible axe, badly cracked after one use

This ax feels good in the hand and goes exactly where it's supposed to. The size is perfect, not too big and not too small. BUT WHAT A TERRIBLE AXE. I have included photos to show you how poor the metal used is. I unwrapped it from the bubble wrap it came in and used it ONCE for 1 hour to chop down sage bushes and bamboo trees on the side of my house. . The ax is scratched all over. As far as I know there were no rocks where I cut. Of course, this ax could have been intended for wood. But…

Crazy Sharp cuts like crazy - be careful! ;)

That's stupid. I use it on my website. I have a variety of axes and really liked the durability of these Fiskars tools. I have a smaller version and I've hit the grip many times when aiming "on the spot". I felled some small trees for them and it was very impressive. An ax compared to my other guys. Caution: It is best to wear boots. I've taken an ax and chop wood many times with trainers or something like that. I learned from that. I was wearing logging boots, chippewas, and as I was cutting a

The big ax is a bit small.

This is a fantastic axe, well designed, well balanced, with good steel holding a sharp edge. The shape of the blade avoids snagging when chopping but still cuts fairly good chunks. The halter is beautiful. I bought it to cut down the roots of trees that I remove. So I cut in the sand. Check out the photo of the blade after a day's slicing in the sand - it looks pristine. I don't know why some people complain about chipping with Fiskars axes. Then why only four stars? Because the optimal length…

Best ax I've ever used

I've been chopping with axes and axes since second grade and had about the same experience with all of them until I bought this axe. Compared to all the standard hickory-handled and composite-handled axes I've used (and I've used dozens), this ax could very well be Thor's hammer. keep edge. Period. In comparison, they are all the same. Compared to this ax it's not even the same tool. I cut through a 12 inch green pine log with this ax in 50 seconds and came out in chips the size of a piece of…

Good technology, made in Finland

Most of my gardening tools are made from Tabor, Truper, Gonicc or high carbon imported Japanese steel so when I think of Fiskars it seems" Home Warehouse" - hehe. In fact, Fiskar stuff is (usually) made in Finland and comes with a lifetime guarantee, so it's not that bad. . . What makes this ax work is the lightweight, hollow plastic handle. Because you're not swinging the weight of the handle, it gives more momentum to the tip of the axe. The blade is coated with a polymer to reduce friction…

Pros
  • Patented blade sharpening technique provides a sharper edge for better contact and cleaner cuts
Cons
  • unreliable

Last shirt was a traditional ax with a slightly longer wooden handle, the traces of which have long since faded. Tired of looking for a similar grip that wasn't made for kids, I ordered one when I saw Amazon had a lightning deal as our Fiskars 36" splitter held up very well. I'm beginning to understand how Fiskars can offer a lifetime guarantee on a product that can withstand the same pressure as an axe. The design is so simple yet incredibly effective, no doubt cheap to manufacture but…

Best all round tool

Bought this for a hike I was going on. I'm into bushcraft and have a house surrounded by woods. I bought it based on some other reviews here and the price is relatively cheap. I needed something I could clip to my bag in the woods, yet be versatile enough to use at home (or in the woods) for felling trees or chopping wood. Ax EASY! I was somewhat disturbed by this fact, as I was splitting logs by hand with a double-edged ax that weighs more than a small child. This thing splits wood like an…
