Breaks/blocks best in aquarium pumps and filters

Do not buy! This product is designed to be forced open/locked. Within a month, the orange bracket will crack or break and no longer be tight. The top then snaps into place where it can no longer be rotated. I stop investing in this poorly designed product. Now I use metal zippers to tighten.

  • Good

  • Some small things

that work well. Hägen

These clamps are designed to break so you will inevitably have to spend $12 to replace ONE small clamp. OR you can buy similar clamps that work at the hardware store or here at Revain for a small price that work very well. Hägen, Fluval - shame on you designed these clips to fail and then inflated the price of a replacement part. Unethical. I'm switching back to Eheim after it failed.

Tasty, overpriced, best filter accessory

It's a bit unfair to hate that bad little detail when the real fault lies with the designer. The FX5 filter has worked for me for a number of years with no problems, except that the little orange plastic thing (shown on the right in the photo) crumbled on a couple of these clips. It doesn't take much to accidentally misplace them, so over-tightening will cause them to fall apart. And ten bucks for this part is shameless. Any locksmith could make some steel replacement parts for less than ten…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Damaged

Although I agree this is a silly price! However, I don't know how some people can break so many filters that don't really need servicing more than 3 or 4 times a year! I keep a lot of Severums in my 220 as well as 6 adult Oscars and 2 Jack Dempseys. I use each of my filters in 4 month cycles and just one broke due to my mistake after 6 years! My 135 African tank that is attached still has all the original clamps. So, yes, they are overpriced and not made the way they should be. Again, what are…

Poorly designed part that fails (repeatedly)

These clamps are overpriced and poorly designed. The problem is the plastic on the bottom that snaps into the ring on the filter that holds it to the canister. They break and break often. The manufacturer should have recalled them long ago and replaced them with a much stronger stainless steel part of the same design. The filter is only guaranteed to leak if one is missing. This alone can cause a nightmare flood if your house has hardwood floors, for example. Continuing to make bad design when…
